car insurance question for those of you who live with FH

do you have the same policy? FHs insurance guy says we cant until we are married unless my car was under his name. if you do share the same insurance, what is your situation? what company do you use?

Fh and i had the same insurance. I added his to my insurance. Geico gave me no problems. I told them he was my FH and they said okay. Dunno if other companies have different policies.

I am under FH's policy as well. We have Geico and had no problems even though we are not yet married.

We actually want to do this soon. FH just bought an 09 GTI and we figured we'd save something if both of our cars were on the same policy.

Hi There!
I live with FH and we have insurance together. We actually get a great discount!! I was paying double a year when I was on my own. Then we got auto together and renters insurance also. Let me know if you want our insurance phone #...they're in Huntington, but I think you can deal with them over the phone too. HTH!!

FH is under my policy and I have progressive and before that i had Aig and he was on that policy too. I'm surprised they're giving you a hard time because most insurance companies will ask if there are any licensed drivers in your household and if there are, they will be placed on your policy. It shouldn't matter whether you're maried or not. Also check and see if your insurance company gives discounts once you do get married. Progressive told me that once we get married i would get a 'married' discount that could possibley save me a couple hundred bucks.

wow...i have geico too and we are moving in together on 11/15...I wasnt even going to call to add him onto mine until we were married because I didnt think we could...BUT...i am going to call and ask about that now!

we own one together and on eis mine both names under policy geicco did not even ask who he was

we have progressive and only use 1 car at the moment they gave no problems adding me on his insurance.

FH and I have the same insurance and our cars are not under each others names. I just told them we were getting married and they combined our policies..(for an awesome price too). We use Geico.

I have Travelers and my Insurance Agent said that he can be added to my policy at any time but we will get the 'married' discount after we are married obviously. HTH!

Wed dont share the same insurance. We were going to look into to it to see if we would save any money but we haven't as of yet. He uses Allstate and I use Geico.

The thing about it is that you have to be a named insured to own a vehicle on the policy. So, if she wants to go on his policy, she has to be added as a named insured, not just a driver. Some companies will make you re-write the policy to do that.
