CAR RENTAL IN HAWAII

CAR RENTAL IN HAWAII

For those of you who have gone or plan on going to Hawaii for your honeymoon, I need your help.
Can anyone recommend a car rental company? We are going to Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. I know all the big ones are there (Hertz, Enterprise, National, etc.) but I'm looking to see if anyone had good/bad experiences with these companies. Also, if I book the car in advance is it ready as soon as I go to the counter?
TIA!

we had enterprise in oahu and they were awesome! WE were saying it is our HM and we got upgraded

We had hertz on the other two islands and we asked about an upgrade since it was our HM asn they were like well we dont do that. THe counter for Hertz were cut and dry.....

Both companies were fine all cars were clean. But we prefer to have enterprise

We used Alamo, I looked into it and they seemed to have the best prices. I searched the main rental agencies websites and on Expedia.

We had a good experience with them!

When you pre-reserve your car, they have all of your information so it's a little quicker at the counter. You have to sign a few things and they have to hand you the keys.

We used Dollar on Kauai and on Maui and it was a great experience. We rented a convertible on both islands and paid about $30 per day (not bad!!!!!!!).

I know experiences vary, but if you go on Tripadvisor most people suggest to stay away from Alamo - at least on Maui - because they have the cheapest rates but also the dirtiest cars, according to what I've read.

That wasn't true in our case... We got a brand new Jeep Wrangler in Maui with 7 miles on it!

That is niiiiiiice! I was just commenting on all the reviews from Tripadvisor. Maybe they're cleaning up their act since they got so much bad press before.

we used hertz.
we booked the cars way in advance.
when you go to pick up the cars make sure you let them know you're newlyweds b/c they might give you an upgrade!

I booked a convertible on Maui with National and a 4WD SUV on Kauai with Alamo. It better be clean or else one of them is going to be out there with a vacuum and Armor All!!
I use tripadvisor all the time but how do you search rental car companies in Hawaii??

You can go to the forums and read some reviews or post a question about car rental companies.
