Car Rental Question

We are going away next month and need to rent a car this time.

DH wants to get the insurance through them instead of using our own policy but does anyone know if you need both liability and the collision waiver?

I was shocked to find the insurance costs almost the same as the car - almost $30 a day for the insurance.

we dont get any b/c our credit card covers auto rental insurance

I would check into your credit card...AMEX covers...and others do as well

I'll have to check when I get home but do you know if it's a 'no big deal thing' or if something happened would we have to pay for damages thena and there and then get money back from the credit card company?

I don't know - everyone I know uses their credit cards - I would just call your card and ask about it - they should be able to tell you.

We actually messed up a rental car a few months ago, and our auto insurance covered everything. We didn't even have to pay a deductible.

I would check with your insurance and specifically ask about the state you will be renting the car in. I guess the laws differ from state to state as far as what kind of claim it would be filed as.....
