Re: Carabas!!

We have a Carrabas up the road (right next to outback - owned by the same company) from us here in MI - I hope the one in NY is better than it is here. They are really hit and miss here. Honestly it is more expensive than macaroni grill and I think it is quality wise somewhere between olive garden and macaroni grill. The dishes sound good but the salads and some other things are only ok. The sauce that comes with the calamari thought is really good if you like hot banana peppers.

Please post a review. I watched them build the restaurant from day #1!
If you give a good review, maybe I will go there for my anniversary.

Re: Carabas!!

Well, the joint was jumpin' and there were even puppies in training there!!!

The calamari was OK (Runyon's in East Meadow is by far the best I have ever had and frankly, I've never had anything compare to it), the mozzarella sticks however were fantastic - not fake & plastic the way most taste. Even tasted fresh as after they weren't *hot* and still had good consistency.

DH had ceasar salad - decent.

Ordered mussels - very CLEAN and good consistency (although DH thought they were too soft), the juice was a little too heavy on lemon.

We ate so much bread that when dinner came, we were stuffed!! I ordered the spaghetti & meatballs and was disappointed in the consistency (wow, using that word alot) of them but the flavor was good. DH got chicken parm and was actually a little disappointed that they did not seem homemade.

So overall, I'd give it an okay rating ... nothing that great.

It's right past Terry Road on the left (a little bit up the road from The Watermill).

I watched them build that this summer when I was home (I could easily walk if I wanted) I'll have to check it out when I'm on LI in a few weeks...
