card box alternatives

hey all! have you seen any alternatives to the card box? The custom ones are pretty expensive, and I'm trying to keep costs down. What do people do otherwise?

I plan to get a photo cardbox, that way I can use it as a keepsake after the wedding.

We're making our photo card box; it should cost $40-$45 all together.

I'm doing a box but I'm going to make mine. I'm not very crafty so hopefully it doesn't turn into a disaster lol

I made my own cardbox so it wasn't so expensive.

I got mine for $15 at Michael's and my MOH put a bow on it.

i like that one from Michaels! I'm so not crafty, so I'm not going to attempt too much on my own. I am positive it'd be a hot mess.

Check w/ your hall first. They might have something you can use. Mine provided a birdcage for free.

I bought one of those decorated boxes that look like a small suitcase in AC Moore - - with a coupon of course.

not a traditional card box - - you open the latch and lift the cover but it worked for us. Most guests gave me the cards and I put them in the box myself which sat on a pedestal next to our table.

one bad thing with this tho is anyone can open it, it's portable so if someone wants to take something it's easy unless someone is keeping an eye on it. but we were ok.
