Card Box Came Today...

Card Box Came Today...

I ordered my card box this past weekend from The Perfect Cardbox, and it arrived today.

Now, it's entirely my own fault because I opted to buy the 'Scratch and Dent' box because it was $20.00 cheaper, because I couldn't justify spending $80 on a card box especially given my current situation, and the example pics of what 'scratch and dent' means you could barely tell there was anything amiss. Like, maybe you could tell there was a knot in the wood, or a small knick, nothing major.

Well, I must have gotten the shizziest of the shizziest, because there's a giant black gash on the top part of the box, and it's definitely more severe than the examples of what to expect showed. If it was on a side panel, I wouldn't have cared as much because I could just put that side facing the back, but it's on the top right at the slot where everyone is going to see.

No returns on these boxes either.

I'm pissed, although it's half my fault for cheaping out for a $20 savings....but I need gas next week, and that's a tank, you know?

If I paint it, I'll have to paint the entire box so it matches, which is a project I didn't really want to do considering I paid for a pre-made box.

So moral of the story girls....go a little hungry one week and carpool, and go for the perfect box, not the reject.

So sorry!! Sounds like they really did deceive you with their examples!

Is there any way you could cover or disguise it, maybe with a bow or ribbon or something? What about putting a monogram letter on top of it?

Sorry you're disappointed!! Hopefully the rest of the box will look just lovely!

It's in such an awkward place in the corner of the top, that if I put anything on it it would just look out of place and weird lol. Hopefully if I try to paint it it just doesn't ruin the whole thing.

i know that having to fix it is a pain in the butt ... but i think painting it might be a great idea! you can get paint for pretty cheap at michaels and than you can just paint it the color you want ... or try to find a paint that matches. im sorry that you have to deal with this ... its annoying.

Omg Im so sorry Ali Thats terrible of them to do that! Is there any way you can email them and let them know how big the gash is? Do you think that painting it will really ruin the box? How much did the regular ones on their website cost? If you are going to go through the trouble of buying paint and brushes, and putting time & energy into fixing it.... would it just be easier for you to buy a new one? Or no?

The regular ones were 79.99...small difference, but still 19.99 more lol. I doubt emailing will do anything, so it was at my discretion to buy it knowing no returns. Luckily we have brushes and paint here, so it's still worth it to try to fix it than buy a whole new one. BAH.

Ali, I'm really sorry to hear that!!!! It would upset me too, and personally, I believe a company should disclose something like that. In the interest of do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Quite frankly if I worked for that Co. I don't think I would have sent you a box like that!!!!! Rule of thumbs: If I wouldn't want a noticeable mark on my box, why would someone else? Maybe you should still say something, like, 'Hey, I knew I was getting a scratch/dent, but this is beyond that!!!!' Mary MOB

Re: Card Box Came Today...

why don't you post a picture and we can give you ideas of how to fix it. like put a little embellishment on all 4 corners, including that one, so it's symmetrical.

ah sorry ali! do post pics if you want and we can come up with creative ways to fix. . could you use a fresh flower?

I know paintings a pain but it could work too .

I'm a total bargain girl too so don't fault you there. it really sounds like they deceived you a little. .that's shame on them. while there are no returns I DO think you complain and say you felt deceived. . sometimes postive word of mouth can get you things. .

I'm sorry to hear that...good luck fixing it, im sure it will look great after...do you have a crafty friend or family member to help?

As much of a pain that it would be to turn it into DIY project, I think your best bet it to maybe add some embellishments on the box to cover the gash, maybe you can make some kind of design over it? I think it's worth a shot....maybe you can take it to Michaels or AC Moore and ask them what they recommend?

Sorry you had to get a box that was that badly scratched. I am surprised you got one like that though, I know a few other girls and myself bought scratch and dent (we are all painting it anyway) and there really wasnt anything wrong with it...
Maybe try getting white paint that matches and just covering up the spot...Maybe even white nail polish will help (but spot test it on the inside of the frame first...)
