I don't know, but you can glue it shut if you're worried about someone breaking into it. Or what I did is I tied ribbons in my wedding colors tightly around the card box, which looked really cute but I did it for security so no one could open the box. Just a thought in case you can't find a lock.

Great Idea -- I saw this article online where they described how theft is prevalent at weddings. There are even people who specifically crash weddings to steal those cards -- and get a FREE MEAL!!!!!!!

I like the idea of a lock myself (haven't been able to find a cardbox with one on it already) . The decorations as extra security is a great idea too!
I was going to try and place my cardbox behind our head table, with FH and I meet/greeting guests and then placing cards there ourselves. If that doesn't work as planned to put it in plain view but not near any entrance/exits!!

Re: Card Box with a lock?
I made a card box for my daughter out of 3 hat boxes. Everything was glued and when my daughters husband tried to open it he couldn't. In order to get to the cards in the box the bottom of the box had to be cut away. Since I used three hat boxes it was large and it was kept behind the bride and grooms table and people thought it was the actual cake. It would have been impossible for anyone to walk away with it and no way able to open it up at the RH. YOu can see it in my album under DIY

Re: Card Box with a lock?
I used a big box with a slot. A slip-cover went over the box. Unless you actually took the box, you wouldn't be able to open it.
It worked just fine.

yah- thats kinda what i was thinking of doing- just one way to open it and make it big enough that it cant be taken off the table.
even if you use the stacked boxes- i was thinking of making a hole in the bottom of the top one so it falls down into the second and making sure they are all glued shut...if that makes sense

What type of 'slip-cover'? Where did you get it.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Card Box with a lock?
I am a little concerned about gifts being stolen, since at 2 recentl family weddings, gifts were stolen by the staff (or so we think). My mom thinks I am craz to worry about this, because no one is going to be able to get into the box - there will people all around the box at all times (I will probably put it at a table with family) - and someone would definitely notice if someone takes the box away. However, I am thinking of doing two things to make sure not one gift is stolen:
1. If the RH has a safe in a place that someone can get to - Take the cards out every once in a while and ask my sister, the MOH, to give them to the maitre d to put in a safe (and I will make sure she watches him do it)
2. Put somehting very heavy in the box, like pieces of bricks, so that it can not be lifted.
I am paranoid about this!!!!

Re: Card Box with a lock?
We're putting a family member in charge of the box (my great aunt). She doesn't dance so the box is being placed with her. I plan on gluing it shut as well, but she's my guard of the box for the evening.

Re: Card Box with a lock?
if the cardbox is displayed near your table, or actually ON your table...there is not a single thing to worry about.

Re: Card Box with a lock?
The cardbox will be placed at my parent's table. My dad's a big guy and doesn't dance, so I'm confident it will be safe.
