Looking for a bird cage for the gift envelops. I dont want to pay $50 for one in a catalog i found... i dont even love it that much. Very Frustrating.
OR
do you have any ideas of something i can make myself. I'm fairly creative... getting married on the beach... so it should be beachy or with a sea theme.
Cant be a lobster trap... DH's sister did that one already.
THANKS ladies!

Re: card cage
Hmmmmm. Did you try to go to Michaels or AC Moore to see what they have? We did our own invitations, but I would have no idea how to do a birdcage. Sorry.

Re: card cage
Hmmmm. Maybe decorate a plain cardbox with seashell type decorations. Or get some paper to cover a plain cardbox that has some pictures of the beach?
Sorry, I am not that much of a crafts person

Try save-on-crafts (google it). They have great prices. I got mine for $12 and painted it : )

yeah, i would consider the DIY option. i see stuff like that all the time @ michael's for dirt cheap. one can of spray paint & a woman's touch, and you've got yourself a card cage.
I am sure you could add decorations to make them fit your beach theme. If you like the idea of the second one, I know Michaels and AC Moore have lots of cardboard or paper mache boxes you could paint and decorate with shells.

Re: card cage
we just bought a birdcage from a gardening store and spray painted it gold.
we had a beachy themed wedding (more of just subtle beach elements) and my colors were pink and cream. we thought gold went well with them..

I made ours. Bought three round boxes (white paper, and thick) at Michaels. They didn't call them hat boxes, though, so they might look at you funny when you ask for them. Painted them wtih acrylic paint (3 coats), hot glued the ribbon and shells on and then glued the top box onto the bottom. Very easy to do, and in total, I probably spent about $30 or $40 on the entire thing.
These are my shots taken right after I finished it. Don't have any of my pro ones to show it in the ballroom, sadly.
Hope this helps...posted by Cpt2007

Re: card cage
the cage my actual bird lives in might be cute, i mean, you'd have to get your own lol but the concept i mean...
the cage is white, and shaped like a house! we got it at Petco, and it was way less than $50 i can't remember the exact price, but they also have a ton of cages, maybe a plain white one would work for you
