Card Holder for Wedding...

This is the one I want. It is 40$ but I know after the wedding I will never use it again. Do you know where I can rent something like this?

Christy I copied the directions on how to make your own a while ago. I never did it myself but here they are

I went to Michaels and bought plain round boxes. (they are brown) 3 sizes. Each one smaller than the next. I cut the bottom off the smallest and middle size. I placed the small one on top of the middle one and traced around. Then cut a whole in the top of the middle one. As close to the circle you drew as possible but not right on it. Do the same with the middle box on top of the bottom. This allows the cards to fall to the bottm box. I painted them all white. Then glued the small box to the middle one and the middle to the bottom one. (you can glue the tops on the boxes for extra 'security' if you want. Then I glued flowers and ribbon on it to decorate it.
Sounds complicated but was actually easy.
You actually may want to cut a little bit insides the circle. You want the boxes to cover the holes you cut out. So you need to leave enough room to glue the box on top of the hole. Does that make sense?
God I wish we had drawing tools.

Picture that to be the bottom (biggest box) and the 'mouth is the hole you cut. The middle bos (which is smaller than the bottom) should cove the entire hole.

I think I am over explaining. Let me know if this helps. It didn't take me that long to do and I think it cost me under $10.

Good luck

Re: Card Holder for Wedding...

does anyone know where you can get a cardboard box this shape for a card holder?

I want to try to make it myself because they are so expensive...unless someone knows where I can get a cheap one? I want this one because I want to keep it as a keepsake box for wedding things

THANKS

Definitely check out Michaels - they have the paper-mache things in all different shapes. You could cover it with material and decorate to match your theme!

I know Fantasy Land in Patchogue rents card holders but I believe they will run you around $40. You many just want to buy or make your own that you will have as a keepsake.

Stacey- I posted it. But share away!!!!

Christy-I made my own for our wedding. Here is a pic. One of the ribbons was caught inside but you get the idea. I posted it once before. Some of the girls thought it looked a little out of proportion but you may be able to get different size boxes. I went with what Michaels had. Because I painted it and didn't cover it in satin it didn't cost a lot. It worked great and everyone thought it was cute.

Let me know if you have questions.

I am making my own card holder. I got 2 boxes and am gonna cut the holes and wrap them in nice wrapping paper. I know it will go right in the garbage after that night so I am not going crazy with it.

I think trying to replicate one is a great idea. Michael's/Rag Shop has so many great things to use. If it's that expensive to rent one, you may as well try to make one yourself. Let us know what you decide to do.
