Well if its not the standard envelope...meaning 4 18' x 9 1/2' then it will not be reg postage..they consider it a small package. My chinese invites were square and they cost me over $1 to mail. Its not just based on weight but also the size of the envelops. HTH

fh works at a place that has a scale and it says that are invites are regular postage, how is that possible after hearing everyone say how much it cost to mail thier invites. invites below
regular postage as in 44 cents, or 61 cents?
I thought that my invites would be a fortune to mail because I had 3 inserts + RSVP set and the invite, all on heavy 120 lb card stock. They ended up only being 61 cents (yay!).
ETA my outer envelope was A8, 5.5' x 8.125'

Re: CARD POCKET WEDDING INVITEs postage
fh gave me this website http://bulkmail.info/flats.html
Very simply, for sorting purposes, a letter is ANY piece of mail shaped like a rectangle or square and ALL of the following are true:
Its height is at least 3 1/2 inches and no more than 6 1/8 inches; AND,
Its width is at least 5 inches and no more than 11 1/2 inches; AND,
Its thickness is at least 0.007 inches and no more than 1/4 inch

Re: CARD POCKET WEDDING INVITEs postage
mine is a 6x6 envelope see my album and I mailed mine in phases at my local post office. One agent quoted me $1.05 one day for my first phase, my second phase i was charged .85 I'm not sure how much it weighed...i think it was under 2 oz and since its not a standard size, i had to pay a surcharge.
Mine is a 5 by 7 pocketfold and it came out to .61 cents. I had heard that if you wanted the post office to not feed it thru the machine then you had to pay for parcel that's why you may see some invites at a $1 something. I didn't mind if it went thru the machine so i paid .61 cents.
The scale at my office said .78 too. Then I took my invite to the post office and they said it was 1.05. If it's not a regular sized envelope, there is a surcharge.
