Re: Carltun on the Park?

went to the best wedding ever there. not only is it beautiful, but the food was outrageous. i went to look at it & since my wedding will be only about 100 people, the ballroom was too big. we were briefly considering the upstairs area - very cool atmosphere. but, the lady i dealt with who gave us a tour was obnoxious, and so i wouldn't have booked it there regardless. she refused to even give us any brochures/info/pricing. maybe we didn't fit the 'profile' -----2 poor medical students. anyway, laughed it off & was onto the next place. what we ended up with has a more relaxed atmosphere. but if you can deal with someone nice there - go for it. the patio can be opened at night for cigars/brandy/calypso band????? ---- for those who want to stay later. will cost more money but as a guest ---it was a very nice way to end a wonderful wedding. good luck.

It was my first choice and I've heard great things about it. I just thought it was incredible. I really didn't like a lot of places on LI but this place was just gorgeous. I didn't have enough people to fill it and my parents said they were annoyed paying for 50 plates for people who wouldn't be there.
It wasn't right for me - but only for that reason.
If you can afford it - go for it.

is it really $250 per plate?

Yes, it's $250 if you get the main ball room. But, the Palm Court resturant side is more affordable if you can work around the hours of availability.
