Carlye Brides - help! what centerpieces r u doing?
I need some help with flowers. I am only having 125 people (12-14 tables) in this ballroom so I am trying to make it look more intimate but yet still fill the space. Here are my options:
1 - candle tree 2 - tall white callalillies 3 - tall white callas with votives hanging down from curly willow 4 - low red roses (in a fishbowl or grecian urn) with tapered candles 5 - low red roses with 3 uneven tall candle pillars in the center
I have some pics but don't know how to post them so please forgive the descriptions. I guess you could widdle the questions down to the basics:
- low or high - white or color
What are you girls doing? Please, I need opinions. Someone else also recommended changing the linens to a color....

hi, i've never been to the carlyle, but I wanted to tell you had to post pics.
when you post a new message, it says browse, at teh botom. Hit browse, and then you will get a file manager type box, so you can go threw your hardrive & select teh picture you want to post. Jsut click it liek you were opening it, but it won't open. Its like attaching files to an email.
If it doesn't post & there is a message at the top of your post that ays the file was too big, click on the resizer button next to the forum mail button up top. There will be instructions- basically you email the file & it gets resized & sent right back to you, and then you can save it & post it.

finally another carlyle bride..i am going with the high centerpieces because i feel that with the huge room the flowers will get lost..but if you want intimate i would go for number 5..that sounds the most romantic to me..good luck and please share anything else about the carlyle because i feel like we're the only ones..lol

Round tables - a few different sizes but all pretty large.

I'm doing tall white callas... though I don't know if that really creates the intimate feeling you are going for.... But I'm in LOVE with my CPs!!!
The first pic is the inspiration for my CPs. The second pic is a bare-bones sample CP. We will be adding clear or iridescent gems/marbles inside the vase to bring the flowers up higher. There will be petals on the table and one of light things you drop into the vase to spread light through the gems onto the table.

those are very pretty... i would go with the taller CP for the OP because of the size of the room and number of guests... i think sometimes the lower CP's can get 'lost' in a room with high ceilings, i just can't remember how high they were at carlye...

I would say go for color as the room is rather understated- you'll need something to draw the eye to the tables... I feel that white/ivory would make the space look larger!
I had a few oval tables as well as round at the Carlyle as I had one table that HAD to have 13 (my very good friends and they all HAD to be together)
I had 16 tables and it didn't look sparce at all... the Carlyle actually does a very good job of spacing the tables out so they aren't too far apart or too close either.
plus our dance floor was rather large (and packed all night)
we did have a 12 piece band- so that actually took up the entire back wall of the room.

maybe you should do both tall and short centerpieces? alternate? I love the candle tree, but I love flowers also- maybe is there a way to do both?
Is your wedding at night? I think the candle tree would look really great in there.
keep in mind when it is dark out the room looks a little smaller- when you can see the course- the green goes on forever and it makes the room feel bigger.

Re: Carlye Brides - help! what centerpieces r u doing?
thanks sassy! that makes me feel better. so most of your tables had 10 people? i have heard that too - about the room needing color. So i thought maybe if I choose the tall callas I would look into getting deep red or wine colored table linens. I hear that was done in the room before and it looked great. Just a thought though - and one that would cost extra money.
My other color would be red - love red - or a combination of red/mango/yellow. Still searching for and trying to post pics.....
edited to say: i am waiting for this pic to be sent back to me resized. i have 3 e-mail addresses - how do i know which one to check? where does it get sent? brainfried....

i had all ivory linens.. the entire room was pretty much candle lit- it was VERY dark.. most of my tables had 10 people- 1 had 12 and 1 had 13...
i have been to a wedding where the room was at capacity- and let me tell you it was UNCOMFORTABLE. so I wouldn't worry- at least your guests will have room to breath.
