Carlyle Bride Question

Are you doing high or low centerpeices?

I am thinking of doing high only b/c the room is sooooo big, but I am having a problem deciding on the color.

What do you think.... I want to do candelabras but not sure which would look better in the room... all deep red roses, or all cream roses....

Also, what are your other ideas for decorating around the hall?? I'm thinking about just candelts on the mantel in the cocktail hour room and floating candels on cocktail hour tables. Any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks.....

Re: Carlyle Bride Question

we did low centerpieces.. I just personally don't like the high ones- to me you can only appreciate them when you are looking at the room from a distance, not when you are sitting @ the table.

We did a combo of pale pink roses, cream roses, stargazer lilies, raspberry heather and ivy. We had 4-6 votives in antique glasses surrounding the centerpiece which was in a silver plasted large 'mint julep style' vase.

We did mini centerpieces like the above for the cocktail hour and put cream unscented candles on the bar & mantel.

Not a Carlyle bride, but a guest (2 of my cousins got married there) - both did tall centerpieces and they looked beautiful. Since the room is so large it just went nicely. On did an arrangement of all mixed in the blue family/lavender hue - very exquisite flowers. The other had all roses, very nice as well. I think both the cream and the deep red would look great there.

I will be doing high cps. With white roses, blue delphinium, and some lavender on a silver pedestal. No pics yet.

I was just there yesterday to pick out my menu and they told me that usually they want you to ask your florist for some extra flowers so they can decorate your trays of food being passed around during the CH.

I have been there while they were setting up for a wedding and they had tall cps with red roses and votive candles and it really set a beautiful tone to the room.

i'm pretty sure we're going with them and we both decided if we do go there we'll be doing tall centerpieces probably with hues of blue and purple. i didn't think about the cocktail tables though..good idea..

Re: Carlyle Bride Question

You can also decorate all the mantle tops and the fire place along with the tables lining the outside hallway (the place card tables) and the center round table when you enter the carlyle---flowers are not provided for that table and that is the first thing your guests see when the walk in

Re: Carlyle Bride Question

We did low cps - all roses in reds and golds - and alternated pillar candles with votive candles on the tables. For cocktail hour, we did floating candles and roses. Just a response to the previous post - in retrospect, we would have skipped the large flower arrangement on the round table as you walk in - the table doesn't have to be there, and we didn't think it added much.

I told my florist I wanted to do something simple at that table.....

Will prob. end up doing pillar candels and red rose petals... i think it will be very nice and elegant looking.

I'm doing high CP
For the ceremony room I'm doing tall hurricane lamps with pillar candles in them. I always wanted a candlelit ceremony. For the cocktail hour we're just doing some votives with rose petals.

Re: Carlyle Bride Question

We had tall centerpieces. I originally wanted all white floral arrangements but was talked out of it because the colors of the room are so neutral that during a daytime wedding, the white would have disappeared. At night it might be a different story. I liked the way tall looked--the room is so huge, and has such high ceilings. But I think it is all just personal preference, and lower centerpieces would look beautiful as well.

We had mini plants on the cocktail tables, candles and petals scattered around the cocktail hour stations, candles around the fireplace and mantles. Also we brought in pictures of us to put in the entryway, and had a huge floral arrangement on that round table. I can't for the life of me remember what it even looked like though!
