Does anyone have any info on any big differences between these two places...or any preferences?

Although both are beautiful places.Apperance wise I would perfer Carlye on the Green over The Carltun. Only b/c the Carltun IMO appeared old, and need to be restored a little. But both grounds are breath taking, and the service is great

yes, i can see sharene's point... carlyle on the green was recently re-done and god knows how much money they poured into renovating it so it's beautiful and everything looks 'new'... very clean!
but i have heard great things about the carltun too. i believe they both do only one affair at a time so they are even there. the only thing you can do is make an appointment at both places, speak to the BM at both places and take a tour of the whole facility-- ask lots of ?s and make your decision based on that.
either way, they are both upscale, gorgeous venues with great service (from what i've heard) so i think you are in a win/win situation but i think carlyle has the edge from first glance b/c of what sharene pointed out with the recent renovations (i believe they were done before the us open took place so that's fairly recent).

carlyle on the green is at bethpage overlooking the black course from the us open!
the carltun is at eisenhower park

Id say the Carlyle....i mean im a little bias bc im getting married there in 16 days :)
But the Carlyle is sooo elegant, We went to see the Cartun and werent as impressed with the cleanliness, and views!
Whichever decision u make....they are both nice places.

CARLYLE! But, I'm biased and have never been to the Carltun...as a former Carlyle bride, you will not be disappointed at all at the Carlyle.

We visited Carltun (for ceremony upstairs and reception downstairs) and one of the concerns was the lack of places to take photos. We were looking at a smaller room and didn't have use of the 'grounds'. Be aware that they sell your home information to their vendors so be prepared for phone calls and mail if you give it to them.
And I didn't like the horse out front.

my brother's weding was at carlyle on a Friday night and then we had friends there that went to a wedding at Carltun 2 days later on Sunday night. Everyone was raving about my brother's! the other wedding got mixed reviews.

We looked at both and chose the Carlyle. I just loved all the windows, the views, the gorgeous golf course to take pictures on....and loved driving up the long road line with trees....so pretty - Oh and the service was absolutely amazing!!!

The Carltun!!! Thats because I'm getting married there haha. I also looked at Carlyle on the Green and also loved it there too. I overall liked the whole look of the Carltun better although i loved the ballroom at Carlyle. I didn't like the cocktail area of Carlyle.. its all over the place and in the hallway... thats probably one of the reason I didn't pick it.
