Carribean vs. Hawaii

what are your thoughs on the Carribean vs. Hawaii? Our honeymoon would be in the first few weeks of november . . .
I know that hurricane season is july thru november in the carribean, but I have heard it's pretty much over by november... anyone hear differently?

I've been to the Carribbean a few times, Nov is a hard month to call it depends on the year. Hawaii is a bit more expensive but it hardly ever rains there. If you do the Carribben stick with the South like Aruba, Curaco. St. Lucia it tends not to rain as much there. Nov is the off season for Hawaii so the prices may not be so bad.

Yeah I guess it depends how much time you have. People say you need more than 1 week for Hawaii since it's so far away. I hear by the middle of November the hurricane season is over - just have to make sure your resort has recovered from any damage earlier in the season. Hawaii, of course, will also cost much more. Our honeymoon will start 11/20 and we're looking into aruba, st. lucia, etc. Others you can do at your own risk but we were told to stick with those. Good luck!!

Hi, Just a thought since I saw on another post you were looking into St. Barth's. We're doing Anguilla (Cap Juluca) and St. Barth's for our HM - it really does depend on where you go in the Caribbean as far as the expense. Several travel agents said we could do Hawaii for less or the same $ that we're spending now. We just preferred this because I don't like to fly and figured this is much closer & it just looked amazing. I think that the caribbean has a lot of choices which is nice, so it really depends on what you're looking for. Also, I have heard that in november, you're pretty safe with the weather. I can't really speak as much for Hawaii since i've never been there but I'm sure that would be amazing! One thing I have heard from people is that they preferred the less built up islands.... good luck! :)

Hi it depends on how much of a plane ride you are willing to make both areas are equally beautiful its just that they caribean at the most 3 to 4 hours on a plane and Hawaii is like 5 to 6 hours. hope this helps I mean that is how I look at it I don't like to fly.

I'm looking at it the same way. I've also had really good experiences w/ Jetblue so I'm trying to go only where they fly to.

We considered doing both also, and were told by October hurricane season is pretty much over. Plus, the Caribbean was a lot more affordable. So we chose Jamaica. Although, it was great and we were at a beautiful place, there was one prob...

Yeah, hurricane season was over and it didn't rain once while we were there, BUT our resort had so much damage from hurricane season that it was not open and we got moved to another resort. Just another thought...

Good luck!!

I don't love to fly either . . . hawaii is actually more like 12 hours in all - it takes about 6 to get to california and then another 5-6 hours to get to hawaii from Cali!
It seems like a really looooooooooong amount of time to spend on a plane... FI and I are thinking we are going to be really impatient and just want to get there already!

Hawaii is wonderful...and the Caribbean is so close, you could go there anytime...

I think you should go all out for your HM and Hawaii is definitely the way to go! (JMO)

I went to Hawaii with FH in August 2003 and we both loved it and will definitely go back someday!

We chose Hawaii because we thought the Caribbean was someplace we could always go. O f course now, we will do everything we can to get back to Hawaii. It really does depend on how much time you have and how much you want to spend. We definitely over spent, but it was so worth it!

As for hurricane season, I think you'd be pretty safe at the beginning of November.

that's a good point that a few of you made . . . I could go to the Carribean any time - it is so close. Maybe we should stick to Hawaii . . .
