OK, i scheduled it for Monday 2/21 bc DH and I both have off for Presidents Day. She has to wear one of those cone collars for 2 weeks so she doesn't nip at the stitches.
I thought for some reason that when dogs were spayed nowadays that they don't need the collar? Anyone recently go through this? I am just concerned because with that collar on, I don't think she will fit in her crate....and I NEED to keep her crated at night and during the day when we are at work. She is still teething and chewing!

My in-laws dog just had it done also and she didn't have a collar either. You might want one to have it on hand if you need it - but I don't think that she has to wear it all the time.

My puppy was spayed a week ago. She didn't have to wear a cone. Her stitches were also done all inside......The day it was done, she was very groggy, but the day afer you would have never known she had an operation. She never liked at the area or anything.
It all depends on the dog. My old dog didnt care about the stiches but Murphy would not stop licking them so I had to get a cone. Get one just in case she starts biting the stiches because that causes an infection.

hmmmm....i guess i should call back - i'd rather have the surgery done where the stitches are inside. To have that cone on her head would cause major issues with the crate!

I think there are disolvable stiches inside and regular ones on the outside too.
