CASH for final payment?? UPDATED

Our DJ wants cash as the final payment due on the wedding date. This seems sketchy to me...how do we prove we paid them??

What are your opinions on this??

Update: Just spoke to my DJ company and they said a certified check is fine, so I feel much better

Mine does too! i will be paying them most of the balance before hand. I am sure they will have a receipt for you that day. Call Chris to find out what they do. I think you can also give a certified check. Do that if you feel more comfy doing so.

I emailed them awhile back and just left a msg over there for him to call me back.

I prefer a certified check.....$3,500 in cash or whatever it is makes me scared

Can you just write him a check made out to cash? We did that for 2 of our vendors who wanted cash.

If you are paying cash, make sure you have a receipt. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it and would insist on either a money order or certified check so that you have proof of payment.

Just MAKE SURE you get some kind of receipt. Even if it's just the dj's signature with the amount you gave them.

We paid cash for our final payment to our band and they wrote us a receipt. Just ask your DJ for a receipt.

I think that is the norm. I paid Vinny cash on the day of, but not until the end of the night, I do not think that is sketchy.

I think most DJ's request final payment is cash or check. I always got the payments written on my contract from Tommy being I made like 12 payments of $150 each.

Most DJ companies do that. I know that b/c I used to work for one. They work on a 1099 so they would rather not have to claim it.

Cash or certified check so they don't have to worry about the check clearing. Some people write bad checks and I'm sure they have learned their lesson.

I've been to some weddings where they were opening envelopes to pay the vendors!

In our contract for our band it states we need to pay the last payment in cash.

certified check is good!!!...i have to find out too ..my band says cash well as a final deposit!!! im sure if anything they write you out a hand written receipt that you paid in cash???? dunno
