Please help me understand this. Why is it that most vendors want you to pay with cash or check? Its driving me absolutely crazy, why won't they take credit? What does it matter since they are getting paid? Our reception hall needs cash, fine no prob! But every other vendor requiring cash...thats just crazy. Is this the case with your vendor?

Re: Cash or Check
we have paid cash for most of our vendors so we save on the tax. you dont really how much you save in tax alone when you pay cash.

Re: Cash or Check
Some of my vendors allowed us to put the initial deposition on credit card. Subsequent payments were by cash or check. Final payments were by certified check.
The concern with credit card payments is that you have more time to contest a charge with the credit card company.

Re: Cash or Check
it's bc when you pay with a credit card the credit card company charges them a fee. when you're dealing with wedding vendors, the bills are so high that the fees add up and it costs the vendors a lot of money that they would have otherwise have been able to keep

I've never had a problem paying with credit unless it's too close to the date- then they ask for cash or certified check.

Re: Cash or Check
We paid our florist and limo's all in cash because they didn't charge tax if paying with cash.
We've always paid with check for the RH, photog, dj, and doc.

This vendor is still charging us tax although we are paying cash. Any of you pay with paypal? No fees like a credit card. Money get to them quickly. What could be the down side. I like this vendor but paying in cash may be a challenge, just trying to figure it out.

Paypal is ok but then they might charge you the extra 3% that they then pay to receive $.

Because you can reverse credit card charges, or dispute them after the fact if you don't like the service, esp Amex. Also, it depends how close you are to the date. Some vendors will only yake cash if it's close to the wedding

My RH allowed me to pay with my Amex because i refuse to pay cash or check just incase if something goes wrong i have amex to back me up and get my money back.
