Cat owners....

Do any of you have a problem with the cats getting into house plants? We have a large rubber tree and they like to go in there and kick the dirt around

I am forever vacuuming up dirt and we even put duct tape over the opening, covered it in plastic with air holes, nothing works.

Anyone have this problem and if so how do you handle it? We are thinking of throwing away the tree but we don't really want to....

We have 2 cats. I am not sure what you can do about the cats getting into that tree.
I had a problem with one of the cats.He was jumping on the stove when we weren't around.I put that lint remover tape on the stove when I left for work and apparently he jumped up and got stuck to it.We found balls of sticky tape all over the kitchen. It worked though. He never went up there again. I guess they remember. Can you try something similar?

One of my cats eats my plants and then gets sick all over the $%$%&^$ house afterwards. The least he could do was digest them!

FH keeps talking about some citrus spray that you can put on plants to keep the cats away but I haven't tried it yet.

The citrus spray sounds good, I will have to look for it. If I find it I will let you know! The lint remover is a good idea too, I am going to put it on the plant tonight! hehehehe

Good luck. It worked for us.

Temporarily place aluminum foil over the soil - - they don't like the feel of it and will stop going back.

Sanmik - that may depend on the cat. My cats love aluminum foil (they are too funny)

I have that same plant and my cat leaves it alone. They may be going to the bathroom in the dirt! If you keep it watered would they still go into it?
