Catering Hall Help

Hi everyone, I'm in my friend's wedding party, she's looking for a hall, which one would you suggest?

Stewart Manor Country Club
Larkfield Manor
Captain Bill's
Riviera at Massapequa
Sans Souci

Any info you may have about any of these places would help me immensely.
Thanks,
Christina

Re: Catering Hall Help

Hi Chris!

My FH and I are getting married at the Riviera in December. So far, we have had a great experience with the whole staff there.

I think it would be beautiful to have a wedding there in June. I have been there for a summer wedding before and the outdoor cocktail hour was a big hit. Please feel free to e-mail me ([email protected]) if you have any specific questions.

Good luck in your search!

I would suggest doing a search on here about the halls. You'll find some interesting posts.

Re: Catering Hall Help

I am getting married at Larkfield next August. They have really reasonable prices and an awesome menu (all your guests get 6 choices) and the place is so pretty. I am really in love with it. They have 2 rooms - one holds about 100-120 (that's where I am having my reception) and one that is very very large (250 or so I am guessing). Let me know if you need any other info- they also have a website www.larkfieldmanor.com

Re: Catering Hall Help

I booked Captain Bill's fro June 4, 2004. Any questions I will try to answer. I love the place right on the water. the room is simple but I prefer it that way. there is a bridal suite upstairs and we will be introduced and come down the stairs. the dance floor is big.

Re: Catering Hall Help

I booked the Manor East for the 9/18/04. We love it. The price was reasonable for a 6 1/2 hour reception. You should into it at least. If you do, speak to Anthony (one of the owners).

Re: Catering Hall Help

Hi christina,

My FI and I are getting married Nov.2003 at the Riveria in Massapequa. The pricing for the time of the year we are getting married was decent. Give it a shot they are VERY helpful. I can't wait for next Nov. Let me know if you have any questions. HAPPY PLANNING

Re: Catering Hall Help

Hi,
I don't know anything first hand but my sister is getting married 9 months after I am and she and her FI went to Riviera and DID NOT like it. Not to say you wouldn't but they said it didn't meet their expectations. She said she noticed the cocktail hour chairs were green and the lobby was dirty. Again, that is what SHE said. Just giving you feedback.

Re: Catering Hall Help - Riviera

I just got married at the Riviera in Massapequa on July 4th of this year. All I can say is that they did a marvolous job there. I must admit that at first I was a bit aprehensive just because I was dealing with so many different people but in the end everything worked out just fine. Make sure that with any catering hall you book for your special day you take into consideration that they do these parties every weekend so if you want something different or want to make sure that the details you want are taken care of, write a letter to the catering hall spelling out exactly what it is that you want. I did and everything ran smoothly. If you want more info on the Riviera, you can do a search or e-mail me at [email protected] for more details.

Good luck!

Re: Catering Hall Help

We are making our final decision right now and I think we will go with Sans Souci. It's very charming and I 've heard wonderful things about it (do a search on this site and you will see!). I found their prices to be very reasonable ($95 for a Sat. night and $80 for Friday night). Also, they will negotiate for a lower rate (we ended up with a discount b/c they did not have our desired date available). It's perfect for us! good luck to you!!

Re: Catering Hall Help

Hi,
I am new to this so.. when you say $95 per person for a saturday night is that before tax and gratuity?
I am looking to pay $110-$120 with tax and gratuity. Any suggestions on place that will have this?

Re: Catering Hall Help

I went to one of my all time favorite weddings at the Riviera, it was in May-the cocktail hour was great! I think the food was a B+.
Went to wedding at Captain Bills last year, I thought the room was beautiful & elegant, but the outdoor cocktail hour was cramped-the food was not memorable.
Price wise I think you're in the right range, but NEVER tell your vendors what you want to spend, let them give you their prices & then work on them.
Good Luck
