Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any catering halls to avoid. I am currently on the hunt for the perfect place for my wedding and i have about 15 i want to see. I already crossed the Riverview off my list (FM me if you wanna know why) and i went to see the Colonial Terrace recently. I am going to the Fountainhead and Greentree Country Club next weekend and i just wanted to know if anyone had any places that isn't even worth the time to visit? I've been getting a lot of positive reviews from people on various people, and it seems harder to find negatives on a lot of places. No place can be perfect and i like going to these places with questions and the negatives are, IMO the best things to bring up and talk about.

It's kind of dangerous territory to talk about venues to avoid... people get insulted... and there are SO MANY places, maybe you could post where else you're planning on going and if we have any negative feedback we could FM you?

True, didn't think of that. I've been posting the places that i've been looking into and i've, more or less, just been getting positive reviews. But, in my eyes no place is perfect. If anyone has any places to avoid feel free to FM, it doesn't need to be out in the open , the last thing i want to do is insult people. Just wanna make the most informed decision on where to have my wedding.

Your 100% right, the RH search is extremely personal but i like to hear the good and the bad from various different people.
I'm looking mainly in Westchester and Nassau. Food is pretty much #1 (I'm from a big italian wedding and my hall has to have amazing food and great portions). I've heard nothing but great things about the food with Chateau la mer so that place is #1 so far (without me going to see it yet). Of course i want the place to be beautiful too, preferably on the water with that WOW factor!
I saw Colonial Terrace a week or so ago and i posted a review. I need to set up an apt for a tasting. I'm going to see Greentree country club and The Fountainhead next weekend. I've heard mostly good things about those two places as well.
Of course i don't mean in insult anyone on this board, you guys have all been very helpful to me (a super wedding newbie), but like i said i just wanna make an informed descion with my hall.

glen island casino is gorgeous.. im from westchester too! There are so many places.. What is your price range? How many people are you having? what are the few things you know you want? i.e. outdoor cocktail hour, place on the water etc.. Give me more details and i can definitely help you.. ive been everywhere in the areas youre looking for.

I would defiantly say worth taking a look at....
Chateau la Mer The Sandcastle Russos on the Bay Fox Hollow
2 of them from my experiance were very affordable and gave a lot for the money 2 were on the higher end price wise but were FABULOUS places.... Maybe if you give a little more of what you are looking for in a RH you will get some more feedback!!!
