My veil was very expensive. It's a cathedral length veil and goes all the way down to the end of my train. I can't decide when to take it off. I think I want it off right after the church, but my mother says I should wear it all night and just wrap it around my arm, which soudns really annoying.
What do you think??

Re: Cathedral veil
If it's a mantilla, you could wear it as a wrap after the ceremony.
Mine is also $$$ and 14 feet long, and I intend to take it off after the ceremony, if not for any other reason than I don't want to destroy it!

Re: Cathedral veil
Wearing a cathedral length veil during the whole reception is just impractical. If you spent that much money on it and plan on wearing it the whole night for that simple fact, IMO, prepare to have it ruined. And how can you let go and have a good time if you have a veil wrapped around your arm!!
I'm having a cathedral veil too... I love them!!!

You don't want to ruin your veil during your reception...especially if you spent a pretty penny on it.

Maybe you can bustle your veil along with your dress so you can wear it all night.

Re: Cathedral veil
i had a long cathedral veil too and i wore it till we got the hall and wore it for pics and stuff. but i wanted it off before the first dance, just in case i tripped or something.
you should at least keep it in for pics and then take it off right before you walk into the room.
Ask any bride on here and I'm sure most of them will tell you that they even took off their shorter veil... when people go to hug you they don't usually slide their arms underneath your veil so your head is contantly being pulled back all night long while you hug and pull down your veil.

I am also having a cathedral veil and I plan to take it off after the first dance. I think it looks nice in photographs when it's wrapped around your arm during the dance.

Re: Cathedral veil
your veil is gorgeous! I would just remove it after the ceremony or first dance. To me, bustling sounds very complicated and the attachment points would detract from the veil at the ceremony.

Re: Cathedral veil
I had a gorgeous cathedral veil as well... I wore it to take pictures and wound up taking it off there- it was blowing around too much on the beach- I meant to put it back on when I was at the hall for more pics, but I forgot... I knew I had to take it off for the first dance though because we had a dance-where we took ballroom dance classes and all, and I didnt want it to get in the way

Re: Cathedral veil
I plan on wearing a cathedral as well...if you still want the look of a veil through the night, just have the cathedral be detachable and keep the blusher or another tier on the rest of the night!
