What can I do 'In Memory' for loved ones that are not with us during the ceremony? Can I dedicate the Lighting of the Unity Candle to them???

I don't know if the Church will allow you to dedicate the lighting of the unity candle, but it doesn't hurt to ask. You can also memorialize them with your choice of songs, something brought up in the offetory procession (if you're having a full mass), and in the program. Also, you can have them mentioned in the Prayer of the Faithful.
I'm sure if you ask your priest or church, they can help you.
Good luck!

Re: Cathlioc Brides
I went to a wedding where they did the unity candle, but then later they did a 'remembrance' candle ceremony...there were four candles, and it stared out with the celebrant announcing that the first candle would be to lit to remember the deceased in the mother-of bride's side of family (he used the name), then another person came up to light a candle to remember the deceased in the father of the brides' family, and so on...it was a really nice way to remember all the relatives that had passed...

We're not 'doing' anything but we are having the reverend say that on my special day I wanted everyone to think of my grandma and all the others who had passed and know that they are looking down and smiling.

My FH's grandma passed away last year and my grandpa on my mom's side passed away last year as well. In order to remember them, I'm writing something in my programs about it and also I'm buying a remembrance candle which will be lighted at the church. The candle will have their names inscribed or engraved. This will be as a way to remember them and to know that they are giving us their blessings and looking down on us smiling and celebrating with us. They also have candles that you can put the picture of your loved one if you'd like.
ETA >> I will search for the link and posted it here for anyone that might want to do this.

Re: Cathlioc Brides
You can use the prayer of the faithful for this and mention each individual or just say those who are no longer with us

You should ask your priest what can be done, prayer, candle, etc. Don't forget you can have a special memorial page in your program as well.

I don't know how I would feel about the unity candle being in memory of a loved one. I think the candle represents the your unity, a joyous thing. We had flowers placed in front of the Blessed Mother. DH didn't want anything said since it was very emotional for him. Instead, I just put a note in our program that the Blessed Mothers flowers were placed there in Memory of my Dad and Our Grandparents. We did mention our loved ones who had passed, during the prayer of the Faithful.

The candle that I'm doing to remember my loved ones who had passed away is a different candle than the unity candle.

I think having a separate candle lit is a beautiful tribute! My cousin did it at her wedding. It was set off to the side and at the beginning of the ceremony, the Bride and Groom walked over to it and lit it together.

Re: Cathlioc Brides
My FH and I have several people we want remembered during our Mass, especially his father. We have (thru the church) dedicated the candles used for the week, the bread and wine and the altar rose. The church was looking to replace the bread dishes so we got one in memory of his father and one for my grandparents which will be used during communion. Plus, I made Memorial candles which will be blessed at the mass but lit at the reception.
Our Deacon suggested lighting two candles at the beginning of the cermony with a dedication for my FH's parents who have both passed away. I really like m&m's idea of donating a communion plate in their name.
We're also going to light a memorial candle at the reception.
