how do you choose your music? does anyone know where i can find music online so i can choose songs? the musical director finally called me back and was like, what songs do you want? and all i can say is, I don't know, is there some sort of list i choose from? argh, this is so frustrating!

Re: catholic brides
I did that, and it's incredibly tedius and in the end was useless....
just as important as what the song sounds like is HOW THE MUSICIANS PLAY IT!!!! songs we loved as recordings were frequently not so great when played by the organist.
the church's music director offers sessions where they play samples of all your choices.... GO TO IT!!!! you can make up your mind with all music within an hour or so....

We were supposed to get a CD of music/songs from the church but we haven't received it yet.

Re: catholic brides
I was lucky because as a cantor, I know all the music for the church... so I knew exactly what I wanted.
For those less experienced, I would make an appointment with your music director and have him/her play some bits and pieces of things that you like. If you're havign a Mass you will want a few hymns in there... why not go to the church, borrow a hymnal and look up in the back songs about love, marriage, the eucharist (etc. (They are listed by title and by subject in the back of the book). See what words strike you and see if the director can play it out for you and see what you like. Or maybe you know someone that plays a little piano or something and can bang it out for you.
my suggestion is pick the hymns and songs you like. that's what i did and i got more compliments on how beautiful the music was... it was so originial and differernt. while it was still church music, it was not the typical wedding selections.
GOOD LUCK!
also: do a search for catholic music... i posted a LONG thread on this awhile a go that might help you.
