Did you or do you plan on having readers at your ceremony? I don't want any and would like to the priest to do the whole ceremony. Has anyone seen this before?

Re: Catholic Brides
We have readers for the 1st and 2nd readings, the responsorial psalm is sung and a third reader for the Parayer of t he Faithful. I've never seen it without readers and usually the priest does the reading of the Gospel unless you have a Deacon there then he would do it.

Re: Catholic Brides
We are having readers.
One for Old Testament One for New Testament Two for Prayer of the Faithful (because we want 1/2 in English and 1/2 in Spanish)
Also will have 2 or 3 people to bring up the gifts.
We are taking the opportunity to ask family members that are not in the wedding party to participate in the ceremony.

I have never seen this before. Realize that a regular Sunday mass has readers that are not the priests. Your wedding will be the same, I can't imagine the priest doing the readings. It's not his job.

Re: Catholic Brides
I had two readers b/c I wanted to include a friend that wasn't in my bp and also a very close aunt. I also felt it made the ceremony more personal.

Re: Catholic Brides
Why not include readers? it's a nice way to include others in your wedding and make it more personable.
i had several people participate in my Mass: 3 readers (1 for old test. reading, 1 for new test. reading, 1 for prayer of the faithful and 2 friends sang the responsorial psalm, although you coudl have a reader there.

I just don't feel its necessary and some people get embarrassed and I was wondering if other people have done the same and not had any readers.

Re: Catholic Brides
We had 3 readings. I think they were so honored and happy to be a part of our ceremony. It was a nice touch of personalization to our wedding. That isn't to say that it wouldn't have been lovely without them, it was just my preference.

Re: Catholic Brides
I personally want to have a reader or two just to incorporate them into our wedding. We also are not allowed to have a traditional catholic ceremony since we are not having it in a church. So Im not sure what traditions and rules apply etc. But Im sure they can work it out with you!
