Re: catholic brides and Readings????

Here is our first reading (Old Testament):

A reading from the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah
The days are coming, says the LORD,
when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel
and the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers:
the day I took them by the hand
to lead them forth from the land of
Egypt.
But this is the covenant which I make
with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD.
I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts;
I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
No longer will they have need to teach their friends and relatives
how to know the LORD.
All, from the least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD.

The Word of the Lord.

Here is our 2nd reading (New Testament):

A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters:
Let mutual love continue.
Do not neglect hospitality,
for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.
Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment,
and of the ill-treated as of yourselves,
for you also are in the body.
Let marriage be honored among all
and the marriage bed be kept undefiled.
Let your life be free from love and money
but be content with what you have,
for he has said, I will never forsake you or abandon you.
Thus we may say with confidence:
The Lord is my helper,
and I will not be afraid.

The word of the Lord.

We made our priest pick the Gospel that he is going to read.

Re: catholic brides and Readings????

how far before your wedding did you meet with your priest?
Did you also pick out your music already?
if so what are your choices?
And did you make your church booklets before or after your meeting (if you have booklets)?

Re: catholic brides and Readings????

I met with my priest in July to go over all the final things. Also, I only picked two specific songs that I wanted for the mass other than that, I told my organist that she could pick the rest.

Sorry but I am not having programs.

We used
Old Testament Reading
The Creation of Man and Woman Genesis 1:26-28, 31a

Responsorial Song
”Wherever You Go”

New Testament Reading Live in Love and Thanksgiving
Colossians 3:12-17

Alleluia
The Gospel
Two Become One Body, Mark 10:6-9

We met with the priest about a month before the wedding then the organist about 3 weeks before to decide on music.
Then I did my programs

I just spoke with the priest and he was unable to make an appointment with me until 9/26---I feel like this is to close to the wedding or am I just over reacting
The rehersal is 10/1 and the wedding is 10/8
will I have enough time to make my programs after the meeting or is it possible to make them before hand????

You'll have enough time. I would just make sure to have my template ready so all that's needed to do on the 26th is fill in the info about the readings. Then you can print them out and you'll still have to assemble.

Good luck!

It really depends on how many people are invited to your wedding. We had 250 people so I made 100 for church (1 per couple)
