Catholic Brides, HELP!

Catholic Brides, HELP!

My FI and I are both catholic.
We were both baptised in a catholic church also.
However, I have made my communion and confirmation, but my FI has not.
I know all church's have their own requirements, such as making the sacraments now (my FI would like to avoid this) or giving a donation to the church.
We really want to get married in a church, so if any of you can help me find a really pretty church on the southshore i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

I would check with the church. My church said all you need is your baptisim records. I had gone through all sacraments but my FI had only baptism and communion.

The church is $450 ($100 for the organist).

I had the same problem as you DH. When we made the appt with the Priest he said they would marry us as long as we were both baptized in the Catholic Church. However, i wanted to get confirmed so went to class to do so and in my class was a guy who was getting married and another woman who wanted to be a godmother to her niece. However, we would of been allowed to married no matter what so i don't think it will be an issue for you in most churchs. Our donation was $300.

ETA - I did get communion though. My church is in mid Nassau and not the south shore

They could properlly do it as an interfaith marriage. If you were marring a jewish man they would not expect him to take the sacrament. I'm sure it can be worked around. call up some churches and priest. Heck I'm not even baptisted and I'm marring a man who was raised catholic.

We got married at St. Kilian in Farmingdale. You could try there. I love my beautiful church. I was raised in this parish, so I am biased.

Re: Catholic Brides, HELP!

I had all my early sacraments - FI only has Baptism and Communion.

The priest asked him if he would like to make his confirmation...he said 'um, sure' - TOTALLY did not want to at all!!!!! But, the priest was only suggesting it and it wasn't a requirement. So needless to say, my FI is still uncomfirmed

I have the same story as you...We are gettting married at Maria Regina in Seaford. We need to send our Baptism certificates and in July we have to do Focus and Pre-Cana. My FH may go for RCIA- Like a communion thing since he never made but it is not neccessary. We wanted to get marrried in a church too but we are not practicing catholics.
Good Luck!

Re: Catholic Brides, HELP!

Only Baptism was required. We're having our ceremony at St. Agnes in RVC. But, he's not catholic. I don't know if the rules that apply are different if both people are catholic, but I don't think so because I only had to provide proof of Baptism, not my other sacraments so I think you're fine.

Re: Catholic Brides, HELP!

My sister gto married at St. Mary's in East Islip and was worried that they wouldn't be able to have a mass because my BIL was baptised Catholic but than his mother converted them all over to Episcoplian, and he received all his other sacraments in the Episcopalian church. St. Mary's was fine with doing a mass since he had been baptised Catholic.
