Catholic Brides Help!

Where does the 'I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride' part come in?

I wrote out our entire ceremony using those Catholic cookie cutter books for guidance. After writing it all out and having it approved by our priest I realized this part is missing.

We need to write it out for the priest on cards and Im afraid if we don't put that part in, he may forget it entirely. (You may have guessed I am less than confident in this man but thats another story).

So Catholic brides, help me out:

At what point in the ceremony does this point come in?

and

How exactly is it said?

Thanks!

That is the very last part of your ceremony, after that is over thats it... you are married!!
I have seen it said many different ways at different weddings.
I have heard:
-i now pronounce you man & wife.
-i now pronounce you husband & wife.
-ladies & gentleman may i present to you for the first time mr. & mrs (without the 'i pronounce you...' at all!).
I want to be sure my priest says I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU HUSBAND & WIFE...

Pick up 'Together for Life' - I think it is by Champlin - I will check the author at work tomorrow - in a Catholic bookstore. That book contains the traditional Catholic cermony procedure.

I agree with Jennbaby that there are different wordings. Your priest may be able to help you with the wording, or if he is open to your own wording, you can try that.

This part usually comes at the very end of the ceremony.

I believe its after the rings and the priest says by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wif, what god has created??? let no man put a sunder..you may kiss the bride...

i think that is how it goes..

I have those books and it doesn't make any reference to this part? Im not sure where it should go - after the vows, after the rings, after the nuptial blessing (end)?

Hey Stef,

It all depends on the priest actually. I've seen it done right after the rings have been given. I've seen it done at the very end of the ceremony before he dismisses everyone.
You can either check with him when he's going to say it, or leave it out entirely. Maybe that's something you don't really need in there?

Make sure he says something. My friend got married and was soooooo disappointed that the priest didn't say anything, Nothing! No kiss the bride, nothing. She had always wanted to hear 'You may now kiss your bride'. The priest just motioned for them to kiss. It ruined the flow of the ceremony. They were puzzled why he didn't say anything. They won't unless you tell them.
