Catholic Brides ? How long did it take for the church to call you back?
I have so far put 2 calls into my FH's Church one two weeks ago - and then another on Tuesday.
No calls back I did not leave my proposed date either ... so it is not a question of having 'plenty of time'.
I have already booked my hall - What should I do?

Call again & give the date that you are looking for...I called mine & within a week they called me back..FH & I have had church booked since 2 weeks after engagement & I am a 2006 bride also!

I did not have this problem.
Try not to let the church know you already booked the hall...They don't like when you do that!

I would keep calling until i got someone! Mine was a pain...so i just called everyday until i got our deacon!

yea don't tell them you booked the hall...they frown on that! When we booked, all of 2006 except of May was open! You should not have a problem...They are actually quite a few of us 2006 brides...there was a thread, I will bump for u

Do you know what priest you want to perform the ceremony? When we first called they told my FH to get in touch with the priest. So we called back to speak to him. He was in a meeting but the secretary booked my date right away (we're parishioners and I think that plays a roll). The we called back to actually meet with him later on. We've never had a problem. I say call back and ask to speak with a priest to see if you can book - at least let the secretary know that.

I called on Ash Wed to talk to the priest to reschedule my Foccus results and since then left another 4 messages for him. Still no response. It happens that my mother is friends with the Nun that runs the rectory and told her that I am tempted to call the dicoese to complain about it and she actually told me to go ahead and do it since I wouldnt be the first to complain about it and maybe it would help the sititution. I can't do it though my mother would be mortified.

Uhhh .. my mother just told me to stop by (the rectory) this weekend.
If I am having problems with them now ..... Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go to my church. FH's is closer to the hall.

I went there... straight to the rectory the same day I booked my hall. You have time but I wouldn't leave something like booking the church up to a phone call.

My church didn't call me back either. I called like 5 or 6 times, leaving messages the whole time. The best thing to do is to go there in person and talk to someone just to see if the date and time are available. They can at least pencil your names in. My friend did that. My church finally called me back but it is frustrating

my church didnt call me back after being told i could just come in and i drove all the way into queens for long island they turned us away saying i needed an appt then they didnt return my calls after 3 times. i finally got annoyed and a little nasty yes i will admit lol with the woman who answered the phone and gave me the wrong info in the first place and then the monsignor got on the phone and he actually married us

Is the church you're waiting for a call from by any chance in Forest Hills, Queens? FH & I has our hopes set on the church were he went to school at... and after 2 weeks of complete heartache & them beating around the bush, we decided to go elsewhere.
In other words, if they start to beat around the bush with you, there are soooo many other churches willing to marry you with no hassle!
I hope it works out better for you.

Yeah I wanna know if its in Forest Hills too....sounds oddly familiar......(chichila and I went thru the same stuff with the same church)
Do you know anyone else who was married there? If so, ask them for advice.
In my opinion, all churches are different. The one we went to in Forest Hills was impossible to get in touch with for months, and we still didnt get an answer even after we went there. Finally we gave up, went to another church and the priest said yes in 5 seconds. It depends if you have your heart set enough on this one church to continue to go through this or not. If you do, keep calling and calling and calling. Good luck!

you should go in there.... they made us come in and answer a couple questions before they would write the date in the book.....
