Is it one from Old Testament, and another one from New Testament? Is there a Prayer of the Faithful (you know, 'Lord, Hear our Prayer'?)?
Thanks everyone! FH's brother is being a nag about what he has to read...

Re: Catholic CEREMONY brides (not mass)
I know that you have two readings. One from the old Testament and one from the new Testament. As for the prayer of the faithful, I am not sure. HTH

Re: Catholic CEREMONY brides (not mass)
My cousin had a ceremony and my sister read the Prayer of the Faithful. So I think the answer is yes.

I believe it includes everything but communion

yup, everything but the communion so you have a 1st, 2nd, gospel reading, and prayer of the faithful

Re: Catholic CEREMONY brides (not mass)
I actually just spoke to our priest about this a few weeks ago. He said we can have one from the old Testament and one from the new. He said he can either do the 'Prayer of the Faithful' or we can pick someone who is close to us. We are actually personalizing it by adding loved ones we lost. So I am having my two future sister-in-laws reading them. Best of Luck to you:+)

Do you have to have someone read the responsorial psalm??? I thought the singer does it???? I thought you have to have a reader for the old testament, new testament and the prayer the faithful is optional if you want to have someone read it, the preist can read it, or you don't have to have it at all

thats correct- one from the old test. one from the new test and the prayer of the faithful (The one where the congregation says lord hear our pray).

How many readings do we need?
Is it one from Old Testament, and another one from New Testament? Is there a Prayer of the Faithful (you know, 'Lord, Hear our Prayer'?)?

2 readings and sometimes you can do a 3rd, we're having our priest read the 3rd, which is the prayer of the faithful. Check out the ceremony program I sent you

Re: Catholic CEREMONY brides (not mass)
old testament new testament gospel prayer of the faithful and you can also add a couple's prayer if you want.....
PS....the priest obviously reads the Gospel

Re: Catholic CEREMONY brides (not mass)
I thought the ceremony took a lot less time than a mass, but I found out that in my church it's everything but the communion part. So you have the 2 readings (could be 1 old, 1 new, or 2 olds or 2 new), the pslam, the gospel, and the prayer of the faithful. In addition to that we're having the unity candle too. The whole ceremony I was told takes about 25-30 mins. Hope this helps.
