Hi ladies - I'm an '09 bride but had a question for you catholic brides. My FH and I are going to book the church this week but the priest I spoke with said we had to be interviewed first before we could book our wedding. Do any of you know what kind of questions they ask? I'm a little nervous since I have not been to church in years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Catholic Church Ceremony
FH and I had to do this too before we booked our date. The questions we were asked was if we were baptized, confirmed, etc. We both had to send in copies of our baptismal certificates. If we would raise our kids Catholic, baptize them Catholic, etc. There was nothing personal about it. If you and FH live together it will cause issues, so just say you don't and give different addresses! I'm not Catholic but FH is so we had to file a petition for a mixed marriage (I'm Lutheran) to be approved by the arch diocese. I think it's retarded, but that's my opinion. I'm Christian so to me that's all that matters.

Re: Catholic Church Ceremony
I just had my interview last week and I didn't realize we were being interviewed that day but it was great!!! Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Pretty much he asked us if we were both catholic, if we plan on attending church more often, if we were going to raise our children catholic. He wanted to make sure we were not getting married for utlerior reasons (pregnancy, immigration, forced etc..)
When filling out my application, he asked my FH all my information (date of birth, address, age, mother's maiden name, etc) to ensure that we knew each other well. He also wanted to know what our financial status was, and see how well we communicate with one another when we are having trouble.
He wanted to know our likes and dislikes of one another, but all in all, our priest was quite warm and offered more marriage advice rather than interview is.
Lastly, he spoke to us separately, asked us if there was anything that I was holding back from my FH that I didn't want him to know during the interview, he asked me if I was currently pregnant, and he wanted to make sure that in no way, shape or form were we related to one another or that we were currently married to someone else.
You should def be fine! No worries =)

Re: Catholic Church Ceremony
No worries.... they are pretty basic questions- have you been married before, etc. It's standard procedure and a formality. You do it seperately from FH- but during mine- FH was in the hall and could hear everything I was saying and visa versa. Have fun!!!!

Re: Catholic Church Ceremony
what is his favorite food, what is her favorite perfume, why do you want to get married, how do you want to raise your children, do you want to have children, how long have you been together...they just want to see if u r compatible and if u r serious about each other...they will separate you and ask and then ask questions to the both of u together
