I'm Catholic but I never made my confirmation and me and my FH want a Church wedding. He wants to get married at his Christan Church. Our wedding is almost 7 months away I know I don't have all this time to do all the sacaraments for my confirmation.
What are requirements that you have to take when getting married at a Christian Church and Catholic Church?

Re: Catholic Church Vs. Christian Church
fh and i are getting married at a catholic church. I never made my confirmation, and don't plan on it lol. It really depends on the church, call the church you are interested in and find out directly from them.

Did you have to take classes? A test? I am hearing different things!!

Try a Unitarian Universalist Church. They do not require any scarements. Check out their site:

My FH and I are investigating this option since he's barely catholic, only was baptized Catholic and never did the other sacraments, and I'm protestant.
Good Luck!

Re: Catholic Church Vs. Christian Church
I'm getting married in a Catholic church and have not made my communion or confirmation. The church told me as long as I was baptized catholic that is what ok but I am only having a ceremony. If you have thought about receiving your sacrements they have RCIA classes but I know they run from September to whenever Easter is. I was enrolled but it was really time consuming so I decided to back out. HTH

Every church is different. You really have to call his church directly and ask their requirements.

Re: Catholic Church Vs. Christian Church
I was raised Catholic, he was raised Christian, I was initially told that he could not marry in our church, becuase he was not baptized in it. I had done my communion, and confimation. So we approached his pastor and he agreed to marry us.
My mom almost had a heart attack when I told her I would not be getting married in her church. I have been to weddings at both Catholic and Christian Churches, and to tell you the truth there are only a few differences, for example I did not see the lighting of the candel at the Christian ceremony, also there is no kneeling.
I think it depends on how much being married in your church means to you, personally it was about receiving the blessing from God that was important to me, not so much in each church. I am Catholic, but not the type that goes to church every Sunday or does confession.
Good luck in your decision.

it depends on the church. my church only requires a baptism certificate, no confirmation required.

Re: Catholic Church Vs. Christian Church
definitely call the church you're interested in having your ceremony at to see what their rules are.
neither FH nor I are Catholic, but we are both Christian.... we're having a big wedding and generally speaking, catholic churches can accommodate a bigger group........but almost no one would agree to let us have our wedding there since we're not catholic (even though our priests would be marrying us....not a catholic priest). there were about 2 catholic churches that said ok. but, they still came with guidelines. so make some calls, speak with the priest directly, and explain the situation and what you're look for.

While this is true I got married in a Catholic Church and there was no kneeling b/c we had just a ceremony, also the candle lighting is optional-its not 'part' of the ceremony/mass unless you want it to be.
For the most part the differences are the wordings of readings and the order of the ceremony.
Most Catholic Churches require you to do Pre-Cana and the FOCCUS program, not all do but most its required.
I would call around and ask what their requirements are for you to get married in their church. Also, pre cana you can complete in a weekend so it doesnt take up that much time to complete. FOCCUS is usually a one day thing, you go in and complete the 'test' per se and then later on you set up and appt to meet with a FOCCUS leader to go over it, maybe for an hour or two not usually that long.
Good Luck, HTH ETA: Usually as long as one of you are a member they allow you to be married in their church, I was a member of my church-DH was not. If you arent a member of the parish at all they sometimes will allow you to get married in their church for an added fee
