Catholic Girls: What ceremony readings?

FH and I are trying to choose ceremony readings....we're having a tough time. nothing is really jumping out....and we definitely don't want 1st Corinthians (Love is patient...)....FMIL was a reader at FH's uncle's wedding, and she totally lost it with that one....the priest came over to put his arm around her b/c she was crying and she shrugged him off hehe....so we're trying to avoid that one.

What readings are you using?

I have no idea! We were supposed to meet with our priest last week but he cancelled. FH & I have to look through the book from Pre Cana & choose.... I'm interested to see what others are using too.

Did you start your program yet?

Yeah we tried looking through the pre-cana book but there weren't too many in there...some that were ok but none really screamed out at me THIS IS IT! But maybe that won't happen hehe....

We haven't started the programs yet--we're meeting with the Deacon on Sunday so I figured after that we can. But I kinda wanted an idea of readings before we meet with the Deacon!

Old Testament - Stern as death is love. Song of Songs 2:8-10, 14, 16a; 8:6-7a

It's kind of kinky - 'my lover is like a gazelle or a young stag'. It's very moving though.

New Testament - Let marriage be held in honor by all. Hebrews 13:1-4a, 5-6b

Book of Ruth 1:16-17

But Ruth said, 'Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you!
Where you go, I will go; Where you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.
Where you die, I will die --there will I be buried.
May the Lord do thus and so to me,
and more as well, if even death parts me from you!'

And for New Testamant we are doing Corinthians

Thanks! That one's pretty good--short and sweet which FH also likes

What I like about it is that it is basically saying that from now on, I'm sticking with you, no matter what. I like the sentiment.

how about Genesis 2:18-24? The two of them become one body.

that's a good one too.....I guess I'm just expecting something to really speak to me or something, and maybe that won't happen and I should just pick one!! Thanks for the suggestions!!!

Ugh, we still haven't picked ours! Well, I've gone through the book and picked out the ones I like but FH has yet to look at it. I want to pick the ones we both like... but getting him to pick up the book is proving to be very difficult... he would much rather pick up the Xbox controller!
