Catholic Mass…

Hi Ladies- How many different people are needed to take place in the catholic mass.. I know two for readings, and two for gifts.. Is there any others?

you've got it! sometimes one more person to do the Prayer of the Faithful, but in my case the priest is doing that one himself.

Potentially others as Eucharistic Ministers. I once heard of a wedding where the bride and groom gave out Communion to their guests with the priest after they received Communion. I would love to do that, but FH doesnt feel comfortable doing so.

at my church we can also have the Responsorial Psalm read by a person of our choice.

and a 3rd person can bring up a 'symbolic gift for the poor' ??? i think???
it asks how many total people to bring up gifts on my paper so idk what that entails...

If its a nuptual mass you can add two to four more to your list. two more gift bearers, one prayer of the faithful and one responsorial psalm.

even if it's not a full mass, you would still have the 2 readings, responsorial psalm (unless it's sung). you can add more or less, depending on what you need. We're having my cousin read the psalm so that we can include another person in the mass.

You must have been trained by your parish to be a Eucharistic minster... it involves an indepth study of the Eucharist. That particular couple were probably trained Eucharistic Ministers... not just anyone can distribute the Eucharist.

It depends on how in-depth you want to be . My Mass was very, very personal. but, it worked out that way because my family has always been church focused and we have altar servers, church musicians, eucharistic ministers, etc. in the family. Think outside the box... there are many ways to incorporate people.

-Our friend who is a priest married us.
-My friend's sons are altar boys , so the 2 of them served
-We had three readers (first and second reading and Prayer of the Faithful)
-We had 4 gift bearers (2 sets of godparents, 2 brought up the bread, 2 brought up the water and wine)
-We had 2 friends be Eucharist ministers (the priest gave out the host, my friends did the wine)
-I had 8 friends do the music (1 organist, 2 flutists, and 5 singers)... I know I was very lucky to have personal friends that are musicians, most people have to rely on the church or hire someone. this made the music so personal and meaningful to me.

I have also seen people opt for the psalm to be read instead of sung to incorporate one more person as well as having the Prayer of the Faithful be read by 2 people (they alternate petitions). Also, you can have 2 people hand out programs as people come in and have people serve as ushesr if you're groomsmen are not going to do this.

HTH!!!!
