Catholic Mass & Logistics of the Big Day!!!!

Catholic Mass & Logistics of the Big Day!!!!

OK this is getting complicated!

We have a choice between a 1-2:30 and 2:30-4
Reception starts at 7PM

If I factor everything in (traffic, separate photo location, wedding party, family photos at the reception) here is the amount of time.....

1PM Mass
we would have a little more then 3 hours for Our photos, and wedding party photos, ect. For the extended family, photos are at 6PM at the reception....

2:30 Mass
we would have a little less then 2 hours!!!!!

My issue is, I dont want to be rushed at all that day! I have been in 10 weddings and every past bride has advised me that more time the better. Keep in mind More time= more money (photography, limos)

What do you ladies think? More time or less?

its hard to say without knowing the distance between your church, photo site and reception hall.

How far is your church from your RH? And the photo location?

I'd say more time.

my ceremony starts at 3 and cocktail is at 7. I'm also having a full mass. Luckily 90% of the guests live inbetween the hall and church so they can go home in between to change if they wish.

I'd like more time to account for traffic.

I agree with Adriana--definitely more time!

i had the same issue. this is how my day is:

ceremony @ church 2-3
pictures @ botanical gardens 3:45-4:30 (must arrive by 3:30)
arrive @ hall for pictures 5:00
my brother & his kids arrive @ hall for pictures 6:00
cocktail hour 7
reception 8-12

this is for a friday wedding & the church, botanical gardens & hall are within 5 miles of one another

I probably should have included this..... SORRY
Church is in Patchogue (by the water) Reception is in Hauppague. On a good day without traffic its about 30 minutes.

Pictures are going to take place somewhere on the south shore.

I know I have to get to the RH by 5:30ish. Family pictures are at 6PM at the RH.

Honestly, I don't think it's fair to make guests go to a mass at 1 and then a reception at 7. It takes up way too much of their day doing nothing in between. (4.5 hrs in between is a lot. Although the wedding is of course about the bride and groom, you still want to make your guests as happy as possible.)

My ceremony (also a Catholic mass) is at 2:30 in Bay Shore, and my reception starts at 6:00 in Garden City, and my photographer said it is DEFINITELY enough time. I would go with the later one.

more time sounds like a good idea when you first think about it but then again, do you really need 3 hours for travel and pics? my photographer told us that he doesn't want two hours to take pics with us because it just gets redundant after that and then the pics start to look posed because people are out so long taking them. he suggested one hour for pics. if you could afford it then that's cool but honestly, it might be a little long for you, the bridal party, and the guests.

i think if you make it early you can expect not as many to show up to the ceremony. i would go for the later ceremony. i still think its enough time inbetween! hth!!

i think i would do the later time-i agree with some of the previous posters, that after 2 hours or so people are going to start getting tired..

i think i might be rushed but this is our sched:

9-10 pics at owg
1030-11 pics at rh
1130-ceremony
12-ch
1-reception

so i really only have an hour and a half for pics..

also-how large is your bp?

Mt BP is very small. My sister is the MOH and FH Sister is a BM. Both sisters are married so they are pro's at this.
We will have FH BM and my brother as an usher.
My nephew is also in the wedding (he is going to be 2yrs old) but he will be with me as Im getting ready in the morning. HE will not be a very happy camper around 4PM!

Thats it- I didnt want a big BP!

I would take the earlier time. Even if you finish pics and such early, you and your BP will have more time to relax.

I would take the later time. You dont want people going home and saying there is so much time in between and start realxing and then show up to the reception late. I think you would def have enough time in between.
