Catholic Officiant

Catholic Officiant

Hello All-
I am getting married next Sept at Woodbury Country Club, and am looking for a catholic officiant to perform the ceremony. I have met with a couple already however the problem is they seem to just be another vendor that wants my money. That is not what we are interested in. We understand its a business and money is required however we are looking for someone who is willing to get to know us, meet with us a few times (sort of like a pre-cana) and can bring our beliefs and feelings into the ceremony. We want to feel really comfortable with the person.
Again I do not want someone who meets with us once takes a deposit and then sees us once before the ceremony. If anyone has had a good experience like this and can recommend someone I would appreciate it.
TIA

Have you tried Father David Grainson?
I am not sure though if he meets with you several times before the wedding. I have not really heard of a vendor doing this, unless its a catholic priest, which you will then need to be married at the church.

Yes we actaully did try father david. He only meets with you the first time to collect the deposit and then once more to go over the ceremony. He seemed nice but not what we were looking for.
My friend had an officiant that she met with quite a few times before the wedding he had them reading scriptures together and writing out the story of how they met fell in love and reasons why they want to marry eachohter... problem for me with him is he is a lil bit far.

I was hoping to find a catholic officiant as well, along the lines that you described. no such luck. and of course the preiest & deacon would hear nothing about marrying me & my non catholic husband out side the church, or in the church for that matter.
we went with a pastor from a christian pentecostal church. explained to her that iam catholic and would like non-denominational chriatian ceremony.
she is meeting with us a few times before the wedding. shes not a vendor at all. but maybe you can go to a local church if you arent dead set on it being a catholic officiant. HTH

Father David Grainson is marrying us this upcoming February. FH and I felt so very comfortable with him and we are so very happy that he will be marrying us. We sat with him talking for about an hour getting to know each other and he knew exactally what we wanted for our ceremony. I don't think that you will find many officiants that will sit with you on numerous occasions to go over everything especially if you aren't getting married in the Church. Good luck

I met with Father David as well, and he was a very nice man. He asked a lot of questions about FH & I, which I really was happy with. I def didn't get the 'trying to collect money' type of feeling.

We changed our minds though, and are getting married in a church.

We are using Rev. Tom McCormick. He is a retired priest for over 25 years. He was so welcoming and I am sure he would meet multiple times to do a pre-cana type of thing. We wanted nothing to do with that so we didn't ask. I really liked that he was really a catholic priest because we do not want to be married in the church. Also, he will wear his priest garb and do some of the church traditions for us like the candle lighting ceremony. He was great!

We were using Fr. McCormick, but he had to cancel on us due to personal reasons. He is still doing your wedding? We are now looking for a new officiant I think we are going with Fr. Gainson we have a meeting on the 21st.
