Catholic religion question?

Catholic religion question?

My fiance and I are both catholic, yet neither of us are practicing. We are getting married outside at Crest Hollow Country Club, and having a hard time deciding who we should have marry us. We have agreed on a civil ceremony, I suppose with a justice of the peace. My question is-How will this affect our children in the future, if we want to have them baptised. Will we be allowed to even though we are not 'married' in the eyes of the church?

I am also getting married in Nov...I say its never too early. My girls already have their dresses. You just never know how long things are going to take (ie ordering and alterations, etc).

It's unfortunate, but I agree completely, and that is the very reason we are not getting married in the church, we are not even sure if we are going to raise our children catholic. Thanks.

How else can I say this but bluntly. The Catholic Church will do anything for a buck! So, don't worry about it. They are more a business than a religion.

My advice is to keep looking if the first church turns you down. Although the Church has no law preventing an infant from being baptized under these circumstances, each parish can make their own decisions on this. My Catholic BIL was married to a Catholic by a priest, but not in the Church building so the marriage was not recognized by the RC Church. They just tried to baptize their baby, and the first parish said they would have to have their marriage recognized first, then the child could be baptized. This meant paying the required fee for a wedding at that parish to renew their vows. Then the had to pay all the baptism fees. They complained for all the valid reasons everyone else has had here. The parish finally said they could baptize the baby in the regular baptismal ceremony, but they would not get the certificate to make it recognized.

Thank you for suggesting that you take this discussion private. I think it makes more sense.

When we signed the contract at our hall, his parents came about an hour after we arrived. That way my parents had their space while dealing with the 'business' side, but his parents could share in the joy of the moment after the paperwork was done. It was wonderful!
