Catholics out there NOT having a full mass

Do you have an outline of the ceremony and what it includes? I haven't had a chance to meet with my priest yet to define the whole thing and want to get started on my programs.

In my search on the web, I found this great planner for masses and non-mass ceremonies.

I'm just having the ceremony, but have chosen to do Holy Communion to please the more religious guests. I believe the only difference for us is that there will be no consecration. Here is my draft of the order for the ceremony...

Prelude
Processional
Opening Prayer
Old Testament Reading
Psalm
New Testament Reading
Alleluia
Gospel Reading
[Homily] Not sure on this. I have to check with Deacon
Rite of Marriage - Exchange of Vows
Blessing and Exchange of Rings
Lighting of Unity Candles
Communion
Prayers of the Faithful
Pronouncement of Marriage
Presentation of the couple
Recessional

I would actually like to know this too.
Maybe you/me should ask it on the Newleywed board to see how they did it?

Re: Catholics out there NOT having a full mass

when we went to pre cana they had booklets specifically for Catholics not having a full mass. . . I'll look through the booklet tonight to see what the order is - basically it's the same as a mass without the communion, i think.

Re: Catholics out there NOT having a full mass

Ok - this is from Together for Life (special edition for marriage outside mass)

by Joseph M. Champlin - published by ave maria press www.avemariapress.com

We were given this at pre-cana, so I'm guessing it's official.

The order:

Entrance procession
Opening prayer
Old Testament reading
Responsorial psalm
New Testament Reading
Allelulia Verse (before the Gospel)
Gospel
Wedding Vows
Blessing of Rings
Prayer of the Couple (optional)
Prayer of the Faithful
Nuptial Blessing
Final Blessing

You can add a candle lighting if you wish. The Prayer of the couple is an opportunity for the couple to deliver a brief and personally composed prayer.
