CD burning help

I am having trouble with my cd burner. I think I am doing right, but them the cd's don't play anywhere but on my computer.

I have roxio cd creator. It used to work, I think I may have changed the settings by accident.

Re: CD burning help

Some home and car cd players won't read a burned CD.

Also make sure you are actually doing an AUDIO CD... and not a data CD with a bunch of audio files on it.

My car plays other cd's that I burned when it worked...I just tried again, I am going to try it on another player right now.

open the CD in windows explorer. what do you see?

Re: CD burning help

I see all the songs titles listed with the windows media player icon next to it.

When I click properties it says it is an mp3 audio file.

Re: CD burning help

You are making an MP3 audio disc. That won't work. Some much newer players and most PCs will read MP3 audio CDs... but they aren't that common right now.

You have to make a basic audio CD. Change the format of the CD you are trying to create.

Re: CD burning help

when you open the CD in windows explorer you should see the file names with their extensions:

Track01.cda
Track02.cda
Track03.cda

etc

Re: CD burning help

I don't see that, it just lists the song titles.

if it is the song titles then it is not an audio CD. like the good DJ said they are probably mp3 files. you need to select audio cd when burning.

It's time for RTM (Read The Manual)

Actually it should be easy. In the beginning of the process you are usually asked to select what type of CD you want to burm - data, audio, etc. Select audio!

Re: CD burning help

Just use the Roxio CD-wizard and make an audio CD and drag your audio tracks using the wizard. Its really easy... you just have to pick the right format at the beginning.

Oh... also your version of Roxio may not allow you to directly drag MP3 files to make an Audio CD. If you are running version 4 (or earlier I think)... it will automatically default to a Data CD if you try to drag an MP3 to an audio project.

I betcha thats the problem. If thats the case... go out and spend $30-40 buks and get a better CD burning program.

Or if you have windows XP... you can burn directly from XP without using Roxio. Just drag your MP3 files to your CD burner drive in My Computer when there is a blank CD inserted in the drive.
