Center pieces did you make your own?

Is anyone out there making, or have made their own center pieces???
If you did, are you glad you did?
If you are planning on it doing it whats your budget per table?
AND is it worth it???

We are thinking of doin our own, and have started to get some things for them, we are a very crafty couple so think it wont be bad, but we were wondering about other peoples experiences.....

TIA

I am totally doing my own! I refuse to spend 50-100 on flowers that are going to die. I have actually begun to get stuff for the centerpieces. As of now, my centerpieces will be less than 20.00 each

We're doing our own.....sort of

We're buying all of our own stuff and having our DOC put them together for us ........ they are simple centerpieces though......tall vases with french tulips. I can't remember the price but I THINK all together each one will cost around $25-30 for each table. We thought that was a pretty good price We're doing all of our own bouquets as well.............

We made our own. It cost us a ton less and the great thing is we were able to put them together at our leisure and now they're completely done waaay before the wedding. I highly recommend doing it yourself if you have the time.

WOW! Ok that is awsome. I am hoping that we can do ours for around the same price. We are doing:
Square tall vases with birch branches, some colored pink and black stones inside with candels around.
I had seen something like it at a bridal showcase and I think we can pull it off...

From the description, I think you can pull that off for a GREAT price! It sounds so beautiful! LOVE birch branches......we were going to use them too, but then changed our flowers and didnt' think they matched with the tulips that well........

We're sort of making our own.... We're providing almost all of the materials needed for them and giving it to the florist to put together with a little bit of added flowers. We're having a fall wedding and wanted something different but still fall-like.

We did a little trial run tonight and we LOVED it... it is exactly what we were hoping for! Looks like with the nifty micheals coupons we will spend less then $20- a center piece!
Thank you ladies for your advice!

thats how we did ours too. little by little we went to AC Moore with their 40% and 50% off coupons and bought all the materials. It took some time, but it was well worth the savings.

P.S. -- i would LOVE to see pics of your trial run!!!

Re: Center pieces did you make your own?

We're doing our own--24 roses from freshroses.com, in simple cylinder vases, surrounded by votives. The hall provides four clear glass votives per table, and I bought a lot of pale yellow frosted votive holders, so there will be a lot of candles! Also there's the table number, which I'm not sure exactly what to do with yet. That's it, I don't want too much 'stuff' on the tables. We might put down rose petals as I think we'll have plenty of extra from doing the roses.

In the end this will cost us:
$15 for the roses
$4 for vase
$5-$6 for the votives and candles
(plus all the shipping charges, which together is probably $2 a table.)

The only thing I haven't decided is if I'm going to tie ribbon around the vases yet. Haven't bought the vases--need to!--so once they arrive I'll make a decision. Otherwise, we're doing really well budget-wise. Of course, my FH doesn't understand why we have to put anything on the table, but that's another story!
