Re: centerpiece
The person at the table whose birthday comes next on the calendar takes it home...I've heard of that one before.

Re: centerpiece
i've seen people put a small sticker on the back of the place card (or favor) of the person who will be getting the centerpiece ... you could do that if you want
i'm just going to let people figure it out on their own ...

I was thinking about doing like a raffle for it, put the number on the back of the place cards and have the dj raffle them off at the end of the night.

ooo, i really like that idea ...
but what if the person who wins doesn't want the centerpiece (like if they're from OOT or whatnot)? maybe you should have a place where people can 'enter' the raffle so only people who want it will enter

Or they do the 'hot potato' idea. They pass around a napkin (or dollar). When the music stops it's NOT the person w/the napkin/dollar. It's the person who offered the dollar/napkin.

Re: centerpiece
we're going to put a small pear hidden in each cp.. to go with our 'princess diaries' idea (our first date) so we're going to do a 'find the pear' thing.. first person per table to notice it will get to take it home.

Re: centerpiece
for the engagement party I tied a ribbon on the back of one chair at each table and had the DJ make an announcement. it worked out great!

Re: centerpiece
I personally don't like the passing the napkin games.
What I would like to do is ask a date-based or numerically based trivia question about us.... and the person at each table who comes closest will win...there'd have to be a tie-breaker.

That's a good one! More often than not, I've seen the dollar being passed around.
