Centerpiece - Dining Room

Looking for ideas for something decorative for the center of my dining room table when it is not is use. What do you have on yours or what have you seen anything online. I saw a candle thing in Pottery Barn (I think) awhile ago but I don't see it in the catalog or online...Pictures anyone?

I don't want any kind of silk flower display - I have that already in the room. I used to use it as the centerpiece but now I find I like it better on the buffet. My walls are cocoa and the colors in the room are maroon, beige and sage green. I am thinking something with candles or something a little more fancy...

Maybe you could do something seasonal?

I did this for Christmas using cranberries and it lasted for weeks. (maybe longer, I just threw it out b/c i was bored with it)

Depending on the size of your dining table, you could use a diferrent size glass container but the cranberries are very cheap.

You could fill it up with differen things depending on the season. Pinecones, shells, marbles, etc..

Thanks for the ideas so far. I just had something seasonal and took it down this weekend and now the table is bare...

Right now I have 3 sets of crystal candle sticks with 3 different colors of candles. I will try to post a pic tonight.

My dining room is a light violet color (darker than lavender, lighter than plum), and I have a purple glass bowl filled with silver Christmas ball ornaments in the center of the table, and silver candle holders with eggplant taper candles on either side.

I wanted to get some use out of the engagement gifts we received, so they're currently on our table:

the waterford bowl is filled with potpourri and I added sugared fruits.

I highly recommend checking out JCPenney.com for some decorative items. I've been really impressed with the quality of their items!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. You stirred up my minds with some ideas.

Jenny5150-I have found some really great decorative stuff (to my surprise) at JC Penny's as well. I bought some decorative items for my bookcase, my throw pillows, frames and some art/items to hang on the walls.
