Does anyone have any good ideas for giving these away? We could always just let the one 'aunt' walk off with several dozen...

LOL!!! I know what you are talking about with that one 'aunt'who always takes the centerpieces home! LOL There's one at every wedding!
Last one where they gave them away they did the 'pass the dollar around' and did a musical chairs... when the music stopped whoever had the dollar won the dollar and the CP.

Re: Centerpiece Giveaway???
For my sister's shower I got a picture of my sister when she was a baby and when her fFH was a baby and I taped a picture to the bottom of the dessert plates. I wrote under the picture :how cute is Laurie! and How cute is Brian! I had enough pictures for the amount of centerpieces. Whoever got the picture got to take the centerpiece home. I think it would work for wedding centerpieces too.

I've been trying to think of a classy way to do this myself. You could always do the person with the closest birthday, the couple who's been married the longest, the eldest person at the table....

Re: Centerpiece Giveaway???
At some of the weddings this is what was done -
whoever the next bday at the table got
next to be married or next anniversary
we played hot potato with a dollar and another time with a napkin. The twist on the game was that whoever had given the dollar first got the centerpiece.

Re: Centerpiece Giveaway???
what we are going to do is place a colored index card under the seat of one guest at each table and who ever has it take the centerpiece home. the cards will be placed underneath the chair before the place cards are placed on the table.

Re: Centerpiece Giveaway???
our band suggested the following - taping a spoon under that chair drawing a lottery of all women at the table the oldest female at each table - wedding bingo - the prizes are the centerpieces putting a penny on the table under one plate - whoever ends up in that seat gets it does that help? we are thinking of the tape the spoon thing or the oldest female
