Centerpiece Pedestals... Guests take home

Centerpiece Pedestals... Guests take home

I have a problem HELP!!
I like the tall flower pedestal centerpieces. BUT... The florists basically rent the glass pedestals out, or lend then to you for the day and come back to pick them up. My biggest fear is that someone will leave with the whole flower arrangement including the pedestals. I have been to sooo many weddings and parties where people just take home the whole centerpiece. I will have to pay for them if this happens. What should I do? Any suggestions?

off the top of my head a suggestion:
maybe tell the hall that the pedestals ARE NOT to go home with anyone, and to be on the lookout in case anyone starts to walk away with one. The maitre D' should be able to pass the word on among his employees...I'm sure this has happened before, you can't be the first to be worrying about this!! Don't sweat it...I'm sure it'll be fine as long as you let someone know!!

I have the same issue. I actually went to go see the Banquet Manager at Jericho this past week and I had informed him of the tall centerpieces. He had assured me that no one will walk out with the centerpieces. Everyone working will be aware and will be stopped should they be taken out.

You have a few options

Most brides and grooms and up somewhere in the middle of the reception saying goodbye to your guests. You could position yourself at the exit to make sure noone escapes with one.

Or, I think the better plan of attack would be to have your bridesmaids stake out the tables and make sure that none of your guests walks out with one.

Good luck!

Re: You have a few options

I posted an answer to this yesterday and it never posted because I couldn't get my login to work and I finally gave up!!

Anyway, like you, I was nervous also about having someone walk out with the pedestals -- because people in my family are notorious for walking off w/stuff not nailed down at weddings LOL :) -- but the people at the Sand Castle told me that there was going to be someone at the door watching to make sure nobody walks off with the pedestals. Also, my DJ made an announcement when it was time to play the game to win the centerpiece that it was the flowers ONLY! And I'm happy to say that NOBODY walked off with the pedestals!!! So maybe you can have your DJ/Band make an announcement as well!!!
