I want to offer one guest from each table to opportunity of taking the centerpiece home but wanted some ideas on how to do it.
I've been to weddings where they drag it on and on and on and it's embarrassing and cheesy.
We were thinking of taping something underneath one seat on each table and whoever happens to be sitting there, wins it.
Any fresh ideas??

we are going to put a star on the place card of the person at each table we would like to win the cp..

You can do that, or whose ever birthday is closest to the wedding date. Or the oldest person at the table, or whoever has been married the longest at the table.
I really don't have any creative ideas, but I am just going to let everyone at the tables decide for themselves who is going to take it home.

i was at a party once where the DJ asked someone to take out a dollar and start passing it aorund. when the music stopped the person holding the dollar thought they won but the DJ then said ok so the winner of the centerpiece is the person who...took the dollar out in the first place lol i thought that was cute! we're probably gonna put a penny or something underneath 1 plate at each table and whoever sits at that seat wins it

oooh... that sounds like a good idea since there are specific people we would like to have it. Do you think it would cause any hard feelings to the people we don't pick?

im thinkin of making the band make an announcement - and the person whose birthday is closest to mine wins the CP and the person whose bday is closest to FH wins the table number holders (which will be a fancy handmade candle

I liked at the LIW Anniversary party when they gave it to the shortest person at the table. This could be a problem though if there are a lot of children at the wedding.
