Centerpieces

Centerpieces

Does anybody have any feedback on doing high or low centerpieces? I am getting married at Oheka Castle in Nov. I am considering doing low centerpieces for two reasons - price, and visibility. Sometimes I notice at parties that people have a hard time seeing past the centerpiece! Has anybody ever noticed that? But I am concerned that low ones may fall flat in the ballroom. Do you have to have high arrangments in high ceiling rooms? Any feedback!

Re: Centerpieces

The Carlyle also has high ceilings, so we are doing high centerpieces. It looks much more elegant. Actually, depending on the centerpiece and the stand, you might have more visibility with the high ones since large table centerpieces may block guests at the table from seeing each other. Our florist actually suggested using three differents heights of high centerpieces, which I think we are going to do. As long as the stand itself isnt too thick, visibility around the table should be fine!

Re: Centerpieces

I would definatly go with low.. its easier for the guests to see one another and better for your table picutes if you plan to have any...my personal opinion is low is more elegant... charlotte roses in a ginger jar, handblown open, with a caspia filler, and charlotte petals around the table is nice.. saw that somewhere and LOVED it...and you can also put some vovitive candles around too.. with high centerpiece im not sure you could do all that..hope this helps

bride02 those sounds awsome!
Although I am using high centerpieces because I have a huge room and I think it would look better and I am using those high stands that hold voltives and flowers.

Although you need a lot of flowers for Oheka...I think the ballroom has a different look than the stairway...I think low centerpieces are fine in there...Its a gorgeous estate.

I do like lower centerpieces for the reason of being able to see everyone...

I have high ceilings at Lands End, but I am having low centerpieces...

Thanks yabbobay - I think you are right - the high centerpieces might even take away from the ballroom there. Good advice. I think I'll go with big arrangements in the entry and foyer and stick w. low inside.
