We are having a dilemma with our centerpieces. We were going to do them ourselves. We were going to do the 3 level vases with submerged orchids and floating candle but since we won't be getting the stems from our florist until that morning and our catering hall won't let my fiance in early that morning to put the water in the vases it doesn't seem possible. We don't want our florist to do it because that would be an extra $800. So my question is what do you think of just doing a big vase with a big purple candle in The middle and gems of some sort? Or do you know of any silk fake orchids that don't bleed? What are you all doing for your centerpieces?

how about getting a DOC. She can help with that, along with everything else the day of. I have done stuff like that for many brides.

That's still going to up the cost. We are on an extreme tight budget.

For my engagement party, I did the 3 level vases with orchids that I bought online at Afloral.com. It was a pain cutting the flowers and arranging them in the cylindars the night before, but they came out beautiful!!!! we put water in them early that morning and put a floating candle on top, they never bled, or lost shape after being in the water for hours. ( I even did a test where I left it in the water for a few days just to be sure lol ) Everyone thought it looked amazing....
Whats the earliest you can have some one in there? Can one of the GMs or a family member go and do it?

This is what I was going to say.....you can get a DOC for less than $800 and they'd be able to do other things, too. $800 to put water in vases is insane, I would outright refuse to pay that.

Do you know how much they were to purchase on a floral.com? If they don't bleed then we could always arrange them the day before and bring them to the catering hall.

Our ceremony starts at 6:30 at the catering hall. We are doing pictures before the ceremony starting at 4:00pm. The hall is not letting us in until 5:00pm which is really not going to be enough time for us to do it or for anyone in our family or bridal party to do it.

If my memory serves me correctly, they were about 3 dollars a stem, there were like 6 or 7 flowers per stem, and I needed about 1 1/2 stems to fit the vases. I just looked and it looks like they don't offer them to be purchased by stem anymore, they come in a pack of 24. You can without a doubt set them up the night before!! They would look just as great the next day

We booked with flowers by Burton for the bouquets, etc but not for the centerpieces because they charge too much so we could definitely use someone else for the centerpieces.

Im doing the same CPS and when I priced it out to do myself vs having the florist do it the price difference wasnt worth it. And who at sunset told you you couldnt come in early? They never gave me any inkiling as to not being allowed to be there early. My whole BP will be there an hour before the reception starts to take pics and whatnot, unless theres another event on your date I cant see why they wouldnt let you come in and set up day of...

Cristina and Gina both said that we aren't allowed in until 5pm. Our ceremony starts at 6:30 but we are starting pictures at 4. Right now they don't have another event in the club room so we can get there at 5 but of another event books in the daytime we won't be allowed in until 5:30. They are starting go be difficult and I'm starting to regret my decision. I had bought on sale vases and also got an extra 20 percent off at Michaels, for 10 tables with the 3 vases and 30 floating candles came to $250. The florist was going to give us 7 stems for $30. So that out alot cheaper then having the florist do it for $750. We asked the florist if we purchased everything if they could just set it up for us day of so my fiancee wouldn't have to do it and they said no because the glass thicknesses have to be thicker then Michaels due to insurance purposes. Sunset Harbour won't let us in earlier that day so my fiance could set it up with water and all there since he has to be ready for pictures by 4. I don't know why they are being so difficult for. They said the florist wouldn't even be allowed in until 5. I think I'm just going to have to do a different centerpiece without flowers to avoid anymore aggravation.

I agree that you should just cut your loses. It sounds like Sunset Harbour isn't willing to budge. If I were you I would definitely complain about this to them and let them know you're not happy. You're paying them all this money and they can't compromise? That's ridiculous.
If they do allow you to use the vases, I could always go in there and set it up for you! Lol

They are allowing us to use the varsity at least they haven't said that we can't but it's the florist that says they require thicker vases. I'm just cutting my losses. I'm going to go now to achieve Moore they have big vases that are regularly 17 on sale fir $10. So I will just get that and put big purple gems of some sort with a big pillar candle in the middle of it and put some votive candles and rose pedals around it. I have enough stress to deal with. Lol

My problem is now solved. Just went to ac Moore and they had managers special on big vases that I wAnted. They were originally $17 and I got them for $10 each! If you want they have plenty more there it's the one between exit 51 and 52 off of sunrise highway. Going to put a big candle in them with beads gems, votive candles around it and rose pedals. That stress is now done thank goodness!
