Central Air Conditioning

We have central ac and are looking to have another zone added. Has anyone done this or have an idea how much it would cost?

TIA

Re: Central Air Conditioning

if you find out how much it costs please let me know. Our home has Central A/C, we are in a Cape. Upstairs does not get cool enough for us. We were thinking of putting in more vents (another zone). I heard it is a lot of money

We have exactly the same problem. We are in a split and the basement is freezing but our bedroom is warm. I hope someone responds.

Try checking the filter, sometimes when they get clogged from not being changed it slows down the out put.
Sometimes when adding zones in you may end up needing a new unit ,to be able to pump out enough air for all the zones.

the old owners told us that they got the system checked out and cleaned just a few months ago....I need to look into changing the filters.....Geez I hope we don't need a new unit..that would really stink

Check the filter , hopefully thats whats causing the problem.Even though the system may have been clean , now summer time is when its running the most.
I would assume it souldn't be a horrible amount of money to add a zone thats fairly simple. It just depends on the unit you have .

I spoke to my friend who does cooling and heating. He said it depends on the trunk where the ducts come out of. Let me know if you want his # he told me it was o.k. to give!
