What can we do instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony?

Hand ceremony, FH and I are doing this. We are doing an outdoor ceremony and lighting the unity candle before our first dance.

the sand ceremony is when you combine two different colors of sand into one vase and it represents combining two seperate lives into one. The color it makes when the two colors mix represents the union but you can still see the seperate colors representing the individuals.
This was done at my friends beach wedding in july and was really cool.

we just went to a wedding last weekend where they did a hand-binding ceremony. the basically tied a big ribbon around their clasped hands and said a bunch of nice words.
