Ceremony at Reception Hall? Are you having a rehersal w/ dinner???

Ceremony at Reception Hall? Are you having a rehersal w/ dinner???

We're getting married at East Wind, and a few members of our family don't think it's necessary to have a rehersal or even a rehersal dinner since we're not getting married in a church. 'What's to reherse?' they say.

I understand not everyone wants to trek all the way out to East Wind on a Thursday night (wedding is on a Friday), but I think we should at least have a dinner with just immediate family the night before. Kind of like a rehersal dinner without the rehersal.

Problem is...I'm NOT paying for the rehersal dinner. FH and I paid for our engagement dinner on our own, and my parents are paying for the wedding. I'm not going to ask my parents to pay for a dinner the night before our wedding when they are footing almost the entire bill for the next day. Anyone see where I'm going with this???

I told FH that I wanted to give our parent-gifts and sister-gifts at the dinner the night before, but I could always find another time for that.

Should I push for a dinner the night before the wedding, or is this one of those small battles that isn't worth fighting for in the grand scheme of things?

Is the dinner a nice touch, but an unnecessary expense, especially if we're not actually going through the motions of a rehersal?

TIA!!!

If you don't want the added expense, maybe everyone could just have a get together at home. This way you give out the gifts, and don't have to have a formal dinner......

Gosh that would be such a relief if someone offered to host something the night before...

Maybe I could put some feelers out and see if anyone would mind hosting.

Thanks so much for the suggestion!!!

we're getting married at the hall and the officiant told us that we'll rehearse ½ an hour before the wedding. people need to know who they’re walking with and in what order… but it’s not rocket science.

We’re not having a rehearsal dinner. My FMIL is hosting a brunch the day of the wedding for the OOT folks.

If you really want a dinner, push for it. but IMO, it's not a necessity.

Im not doing the dinner...only because half of my bridal party is coming in from out of town the day before the wedding...and it was just to crazy to try to get everyone here, and out to dinner at a resonable time...so we are skipping it. Im giving my girls their gifts the morning after the bachlorette party at breakfast...and Ken is giving the guys theirs at dinner the night of his bachlor party

Hi Girls,

Thanks for weighing in on this for me. Now that I see that not everyone is having a rehersal dinner, I'm not as stressed about it.

As you may have noticed, our wedding isn't for another year, and my family is sick of my 'wedding chatter' already!!

I knew I could turn to you girls for support!

Thanks!
